Great Mountain

Conditions were bad - hot - melty - icy. But the mountain can't control weird global warming February weather. The faciltiies are top notch - which is all I can judge them on.

Big area but they seldom have all of it open. Trail grooming is poor if they groom at all. The website isn't always truthful about the number of trails open. I have skied here 11 times this season and had good skiing 3 times.

Planned a last minute ski trip towards end of season. Headed to Gore. Larger mountain, has gondola and upper summit trails. Conditions were so-so, Gore did not seem to make any snow during our 4 days there and bunch of trails were closed, many that were open were icy. Would have expected snow making given weather and still ski season.... More

Yes, it was late in a warm season with little snow, but that's not the issue. There was little challenge to the mountain other than ice. While none of the double diamonds were open, none of the black diamonds that were open would qualify as more than a blue at most VT resorts. I was also less than impressed by... More

Hi Charlie, I am glad you visited! Was it your first day with us? The weather of 1-2 weeks ago created a challenge for skiers and ski areas throughout the East and prevented us from opening several of our black diamonds for a few days. I have skied extensively at other areas east and west and can assure you that... More

Hi Brian, The weather of the last week has certainly been a struggle! We are excited to see temps headed down where they belong later this evening (March 1) and will likely resume snowmaking as we look to make our season last as long as weather allows. I hope you can return soon under better weather, and I appreciate your... More

People were parking all the way down the road and there were barely racks free to put your skiis- but the resort is so big you could *almost* forget how crazy it was once you were out on the trails. The staff were definitely stressed by the crowds, and some were a bit gruff, but we had a great experience,... More

Hi TDNY- Thank you so much for visiting us and taking the time to write a review! This weekend was BY FAR the busiest weekend in our history- let's just say we're looking forward to building another parking lot this summer. I am so glad that you found the crowds dispersed well on the mountain and that your kids were... More

I am a season pass holder, ski with the Ladies Escape group and/or Secret Society. These programs are excellent. The instructors are wonderful and know their stuff! The mountain has a vast variety of trails, glades and great views. Right now there is a ton of snow and great coverage. Even in seasons of little snow, the crew manages to... More

We enjoyed a day of skiing and snowboarding at Gore. We went on a Thursday and it was empty. Lots of fresh powder made the trails awesome. Lots of intermediate and expert slopes. We enjoyed the gondola since it was a windy day. We bought our lift tickets online at a discount.

Looking for a place to teach my child to ski who had gone 3 time prior. Did not want to spend full price daily ticket fees to spend it on the small slopes so saw Gore North Creek Ski Bowl. Prices what I was looking for. Can connect to main mountain with the main mountain ticket if purchased that way.... More

If you have a chance to come to Gore mountain on a weekday - grab it! It's well worth the trip from the Capital district, for a fun day in the snow They have excellent snow making equipment and use it all the way until the end of February. When the trails are nicely groomed and few people line up... More

Hi Tina, Thanks for visiting and for your review! We love everyday at Gore, but midweek days certainly offer lots of extra space to cruise with your crew. Yes, snowmakers continue to be busy on our four peaks of terrain- we hope you can return later this season to enjoy more of their efforts! Snowboarders always welcome, I'm one haha!... More

Gore Mountain is a gem in the things one can do in NYS. Despite unpredictable weather and they make the best of their snowmaking ability. Season passes and frequent Skier Cards make Gore a great value as well. We drive two hours from Rome NY once or twice during the week. Never any lines. The variety of terrain available should...
