We had a wonderful time meeting Aida and getting to "play" with all the art at Creative Solutions! It was great fun! Started by learning to cut glass bottles using a scoring knife and a candle - got to try that when we get back home and make some soda bottle cups. Then we worked on slumping and melting and... Aida and her colleagues are doing a great and creative job here! Zanzibar has some waste problems, and this is a way to take care of it. They receive glass bottles from restaurants and hotels - and make it all into great art! Among other things. We just didn't want to leave! Our 7-year old was allowed to try cutting... More

I visited Creative Solutions after meeting Aida at an artisan market in Dar es Salaam. I live in Tanzania and love any chance to visit local projects. The owners are passionate, creative, and loving, making you feel at home the second you step foot on the property. It is informal, relaxing, and refreshing to be able to enjoy a day... More

We visited yesterday the creative solution center. We were not expected but nevertheless warmly welcomed. Aida showed us everything, the workshop, the class rooms the volunteer house, the beautiful playground and the mosaic wall around the property and I was even trying to cut a glass bottle. Unfortunately we didn't have much time to stay a bit longer, but I... More

VISIT! You will learn a lot and have the time of your life learning it. The two founders (who run the center and teach English and art) are absolutely phenomenal. They set up Creative Solutions to use art as a way to teach as well as a way to befriend everyone they meet. Visitors and volunteers will be treated as... More

We took our daughters there when the holiday became a bit to long without their friends. I was hoping they could partake in some art activities. The lady in charge was however away on holiday and the kids too. The caretaker however received us and very willingly took us through the centre. It seems they do great things for special... More

Totally enjoyed visiting with my kids and friends. The kids participated in puppet workshops and all sorts of awesome recycling activities from making music on a giant bottle xylophone to creating murals in the gardens. I also appreciate the awareness and community building and being able to drop off glass bottles to recycle here.

I've stayed at Creative Solutions several times for several projects and it is an absolutely magical place with wonderful people and a great atmosphere. It is focusing on sustainability without being "hippie", it is creating and reflecting on art without being pretentious nor "arty-farty", it is involving local communities without being too exotic for a Western person to reside.. The... More

I have stayed at Creative Solutions multiple times over my stay in Zanzibar. It is an absolutely beautiful property and blends an exciting mix of art and sustainability. As Mangapwani is not in the city, Creative Solutions is just a km walk to a beautiful beach to swim and relax. Aida, who runs Creative Solutions is amazing. She is a... More
