The view really is outstanding, and the (unreconstructed) Byzantine castle seems to flow down the cliffs level by level like a cascading water fall. Great for photos. The only caveat is that the staircase up/down to the viewing area is protected only by a wire...More

Fight the crowds and make sure you visit the castle ruins if for no other reason than to get some great photos. You won't regret it!!!

This is a must see if you're in Oia. It only takes 10 minutes to walk from most parking areas and it is less than 2 minutes from the main strip Oia. We went around 9 in the morning after breakfast and there were only...More

We nearly missed the place as the ruins are completely surrounded with houses. It wasn't what I expected, only a few walls and it's teeming with tourists even in the middle of a really hot day. I'd hate to think all these people would actually...More

Good spot for pictures and sea view. Might be good for sunset but I feel it was a bit crowded even during the day time

Amazing view in 360 deg. Try to come early to get a good spot and get to sit in the cliff. Worth the wait and experience indeed.

This is a very simple location to walk around (safely and follow signage instructions). Fascinating structure from the past. The view is quite awesome anytime in the day. I am sure it gets crowded during the sunset times; I avoided the location at the sunset.

Ruins is the correct term for the rock walls that remain of the castle which was once the seat of the Argyri family under the Venetians. The 360 degree view is stupendous and worth every step, it took to reach the ruins. The caldera is...More

Oia is northwest of the Island where the Byzantine Castle Ruins are, and Akrotiri is in the southeast and you need to drive to get there. Enjoy your trip!
