We had visited friends in this area and they had taken us here. Very interesting history. I learned when I had returned home and working on my family genealogy I find I had ancestor's who fought here. Makes it just that much more interesting. Our tour guide, a young lady, has absolutely knowledgeable and very professional in her presentation. It... More

Beautiful park overlooking Lake Ontario. Many cannons in the park. And others building, but we didn't go to because we were cold during the winter.

There are only 2 buildings left from the military days and they were both closed when we were there, but there is a self-guided walking tour with good signs that explain the battle and position of different things that happened. Nice way to spend a couple of hours, with good views of the lake.

They have a visitors center as you drive into town but it was closed. We drove the the historic site and started walking. There are two buildings but both were closed and undergoing an exterior renovation. We came across a sign telling us about a self guided phone tour. You push a number corresponding with each stop number. The problem... More

We stopped by here one evening to take a stroll through the park. You can learn a lot about the history of the area just by reading the signs posted around the site. It's very nice, and the lake was beautiful too. Glad we stopped by (very easy to access by automobile).

Sackets Harbor is one of the most beautiful, historic and quiet places in upstate New york which families will enjoy. The history on the evolution of Sackets harbor in the natural bay, importance of trade and the battle of 1812 are very good learning points for children in American history. Its a beautiful place to walk around, relax and admire... More

My husband and I arrived at about 9 in the morning. We spent over an hour walking the grounds and learning (via the sign posts) about the battle and the history of the are. It was a beautiful morning. We won't soon forget the beauty of the lake, the apple trees, and the maple leaves just starting to turn. So... More

We discovered this place my accident walking around at night. This evening there were fireworks and signage to guide you. We returned the following day on our bikes. What a wonderful place. I wish there were maps of the many walking paths around the area. They are crushed and packet gravel so we did not ride our road bikes. It... More
