Great musicals presented by college students

This is an old theater that is in a beautiful setting. They present a variety of musicals in the summer performed by college students

I have sung at The Seagle Colony twice and you will be amazed at the quality of the productions that get performed in the converted barn. Don't miss Sunday Vespers.

A hundred years have passed since the founding of the Seagle Music Colony. That should be reason enough to seek out this wonder of the Adirondacks. But the level of performances is the true reason for discovering this venue if you have never attended a performance. We first learned about SMC from my sister a number of years ago, but... More

The Seagle Music Colony has been around for 100 years and summer after summer they have done a great job producing both traditional operas as well as Broadway musicals. They have a nice program and they also have a screen up front with the translated libretto. Their casts consist of young college graduates who wish to hone their skills in... More

Known by a few and missed by many. This is the 100th university of the Seagle Music Colony. It is a summer school for future opera singers. It is world renowned. Many graduates go on to be leading opera singers. But to the locals, it is a place to see incredible opera, Broadway shows and revues. If you are in... More

Last summer we came upon this theatre in the woods. The Seagle Music Hall is a gem. We’ve have been coming to Schroon lake for over 35 years and never once went to this place or heard of it.I think we were too busy going to sites that keep the kids in check. This is an adult hideaway. Last summer... More

What a treasure we have here in Schroon Lake! Plays, operas, and a nearly 100 year tradition called Vespers performed by talent you'd find on broadway. These talented young performers come together at Seagle Music Colony each summer. With superb direction they perform several plays and operas at a fraction of the cost of most other theaters. This summer we... More

I came to Schroon Lake for the first time this summer to see three shows at the Seagle Music Colony. This program, in its 99th summer season, puts on a combination of operas and musicals each summer. To do that they recruit the most talented young (generally in their 20s) voices from music schools across the country. To be honest,... More

I had the pleasure of watching 4 Seagle Colony operas during my stay at Schroon Lake. The Seagle Colony is a summer training ground for aspiring opera singers run by Darren Woods, the Artistic Director of the Fort Worth Opera. He's a big time talent, and, boy, does it show in his productions! I was so impressed with these young... More
