A small sign points the way to Sunnyside, Washington Irving's Hudson River hideaway. One drives a mile or two down from the main road and having parked, then walks some distance downhill to reach the property. (This property does not appear to be handicapped accessible.)...More

We really enjoyed our morning at Sunnyside. Upon arrival, obtain your tour timed tickets. Be sure to see the nicely narrated Irving video by Walter Cronkite, either before or after your tour. Our docent was wonderful, dressed in period garb. As we meandered down towards...More

Sunnyside is perhaps an often overlooked, yet another must see attraction in Westchester. The beautiful property is almost tucked away and hidden down a winding road on the border of Tarrytown and Irvington. It is a wonderful location for a peaceful walk or pond-side lunch.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Sunnyside. Tour guide, Linda, was knowledgeable, personable, and fun. Learned tons, not only about the fascinating Washington Irving, but also about U.S. and Hudson Valley history—and I’ve lived in the mid-Hudson Valoey (further north) for over 30 years. Highly recommend.

The best part of the tour was the guy greeting you before you enter the house. Once inside, it is very cramped. Though worth seeing to hear about the life of the author, but if pressed for time in the area, can be skipped.

I have been trying to visit Sunnyside for two years when we visit my son in White Plains. There always seemed to be a problem; either they weren't open on the day I was there or they were having special events over Halloween. I finally...More

Very interesting. You must get tickets before. Docents are in period clothes. It was a lovely day so we were able to walk around the grounds which are lovely.
