The tortoises were amazing! Some over 100 years old. They are enormous. Then walk up to the prison, order coffee or more, and don't forget the slaves - but you would not be blamed for enjoying this place. A little duiker and peahens strolled through...More

The island is about a 20 minute boat ride from the mainland. Clean beach. But we didn't swim. The only thing to do here is feed the endangered Aldabra giant tortoises. It's nice to know that the tortoises are safe here. Read up on the...More

This place is brilliant. Forget the Prison, it's a side issue, and focus on the giant tortoises. You can visit them, feed them and stroke their necks. Awesome for kids. Maybe even better for semi-grownups! Truly brilliant

I was so excited to see the giant land tortoises. I love them. Nice island. Then we went snorkeling. The whole package costs $20 with a guide who walks you through the island and tell you the story behind it.

Its best to visit it in the morning as you would have enough time to explore the island and go for a nice swim too.
