I highly recommend visiting! I also recommend drinking plenty of water and electrolytes before! Great shopping for local goods and stunning views!

We stayed in Latacunga and took a bus from there early in the morning to get here. We walked to the right side up to the highest point, 3930m, an then we walked back to a wooden viewpoint to go down from there, walk inside...More

I'd recommend the rim hike. I did it with 2 travelers i met at the hostel I was staying at. Beautiful beautiful views. FYI- only a couple places seem to have wifi and I couldn't find an atm. I saw one place that accepted cards.

Awesome! We hiked to the bottom and back up. Be sure you have good shoes and healthy legs, but it is always possible to hire a mule/horse for $10.

It was raining when we arrived but soon cleared for a great view of the lake. The drive up was the best for us. Seeing how they work the land and live in this area was the most interesting part of the trip.

Locals do this in 2-3 hrs; with a friend who was out of shape and had never hiked more than three hours in her life it took us 8. A fit person could do it 5-6. If you start from quilotoa and go to the...More

Quilotoa crater (probably a caldera, actually) is probably quite an experience. Beware though, that if the weather is not on your side (which it wasn't for me), standing at the 'mirador' staring into the mist is exactly like staring into your average mist anywhere. And...More
