Whiteface may have made its name in winter, it has the highest vertical drop in the east, after all but it does summer pretty well too. The warmer months make Whiteface a natural setting for outdoor enthusiasts of all levels and ages, whether you're looking for an adrenaline rush or just an afternoon of beautiful views with your family. Take a hike along the Stag Brook Falls trail or Bear Den Mountain, play a round of Disc Golf and check out the area's most exhilarating, challenging Mountain Biking terrain. Or gather the family for an afternoon of taking it all in with a Scenic Cloudsplitter Gondola Ride to the summit of Little Whiteface. Drive the Whiteface Veteran's Memorial Highway to the summit, and lean into the Adirondack breeze as you marvel at the world below you. This well-known mountain offers exciting and scenic runs for skiers of all levels: Beginners do well on Easy Acres, which features its own ski school, novices and intermediates enjoy Little Whiteface, while experts head to the heart-pounding summit.

Gorgeous views from the toll road. Elevator to the summit is closed for repairs, so we walked to the top. For goodness' sake, wear sensible, non-skid footwear, and ladies, leave the bulky handbags in the car! Very glad I had my mini backpack--hands free climbing...More

We went on a whim without prior planning, only an awareness of its awesomeness. Took the gondola to the top. Very affordable & AMAZING views, worth every cent! Hiked around, took it all in, then hit Lake Placid for dinner and shopping. Perfect day! Could've...More

Easy drive to summit, little restaurant in the "castle" at the top. Usually you can take the elevator (accessed by a very cool underground tunnel) to the summit observation tower, but it was out of order when we visited. That meant we had to do...More

Took the gondola ride up and drove the Veterans Memorial Highway. The gondola is exciting because you really get a sense of height but the drive actually takes you higher up the mountain. Beautiful views for both. Pricey without an Olympic Passport so get the...More

After hiking to the top of Ampersand last year with my 95-lb quadriplegic daughter on the backs of my nephews, I thought it would be great for her to see another stunning view. I remembered the drive and elevator from 23 years ago, and figured...More

Was an amazing experience and not expensive BUT you have to climb to get to the top of the mountain. I did not have the right shoes on and it was so cold, regular temp was 71 and top of mountain was 46.

Quicker drive up than we expected for a mountain of its size. Despite website information that elevator would be out of service until Aug 7th, it was STILL out of service on Aug 14th! We hiked up the nature trail to the summit with our...More

Amazing views. I traveled with two young toddlers solo and was sad to hear the elevator was broken BUT decided we came to far to not see the summit so climbed the steps and steep path. One child in my arms and the other age...More

I don't think they do enough marketing of this place. We didn't really know what it was or what to expect but we noticed on our "Olympic passport" it was included so we decide to go up at the end of our day. You need...More
