This is a lovely little trail with an incredible pay off at the end with a gorgeous panorama view. If you're interested in making a day of this, I suggest walking up to the carpark from Woodstock town, going up to the mountain top and...More

I've done this hike 5 times now and I would do it another 5 times! It's straight up. Not for the faint of heart. If you're out of shape plan on a 3-4 hour round trip hike. If you're in good shape it takes about...More

This 5-mile out-and-back hike has a few very unique features that make it well worth adding to you list. One is an abandoned hotel about 2 miles into the hike. The hotel burned down not once but twice, but a good portion of the stone...More

You can't go wrong with a classic. We took the dogs who aren't much for hiking and they loved it. Same with kids or those who aren't in the best shape. A lot of people have issue with the power lines, which I never find...More

Strenuous hike, and I am in shape! Steep climb for 1.5 miles with loose gravel/rocks. Bring a hiking stick and definitely wear comfortable shoes. Hotel ruins are gorgeous, and are about 1/2 mile from the summit. Bring water/snacks/lunch. Read warnings of rattlesnakes, but saw no...More

Absolutely worth every second. Hike is moderately difficult if you're not in good shape - basically a steep uphill walk the entire 2.5 mile trail. Stunning view at the top - even if this was a 5 mile trail it would still be worth it....More

This mountain houses the original Art Colony, Byrdcliffe, There is a train to the summit from which you can see 5 states. .It is relatively simple for hardy individuals and worth the effort

We drove up Overlook Mountain and parked at the monastery. Instead of hiking up to the fire tower, we walked down the Dharma Path to the little pond (it was just easier with a 2-year-old). The Dharma Path is bordered with prayer flags, and at...More

You can get to the trailhead by car, but you must walk up a 2.5 mile former carriage road to get to the actual summit of Overlook Mountain
