Coming from Washington, DC I was not expecting much- and what a pleasant surprise. Went to see an Etta James tribute - which was awesome. The place is good size, probably seats 150, but you aren't packed in like sardines. All seats have good views. They also have 4 beers on tap, and wine. Didn't look at the wine, but... More

The music may be great and most likely is. The Irish jam was a disappointment. Most jams I have been to there was at least some sort of order. The attendees were regular locals and didn't seem to think an "outsider" needed to know the song titles, key or chord changes. Tunes were started randomly the regulars knew them all.... More

This music hall always has a great variety of musicians playing. Very laid back atmosphere with tables and couches.

Since we are locals, we have been to the White Horse many a time. It's always been a good, sometimes a great experience. They try to get local as well as less local talent (Rupert Waite!) in there to perform. Musicians and other entertainers must love coming here, because people respectfully listen instead of talking over the music. The space... More

A wonderful, relaxing place with great entertainment. I absolutely love it and go whenever I'm in North Carolina. Haven't seen a bad group yet. Tonight's band was jazz fusion. Fabulous!!!

A wonderful evening of Storytelling with Andy Irwin and Bil Lepp. They were BRILLIANT. But, the venue was horrible! There's NO Air Conditioning and the temps leaving Asheville was 102F! Very low key...that was good....very unassuming, also good. Small round tables surrounded by chairs and small couch setting off to the side. Sound system seemed fine, as the place was... More

Often has some of the most interesting musical events. Stack-able padded seating / some tables, a little standing room, a few bar stools, and has a few old worn sofas and tables. Not really a bar, more of a listening room although they serve a few good beers. Soft drinks are avail. along with some packaged snacks. The strength of... More

Great sound system. Great local beers on tap. We have seen the Blue Ridge Orchestra and many other talented musicians.

If you want to catch a great "Live" performance, this Black Mountain Gem is minutes off of Highway 40 and also just minutes away from Asheville NC !! We've seen many wonderful performers and shows at this cozy venue. It reminds me of a small Greenwich Village club that my wife and I would frequent oh so many years ago... More
