Fun way to spend a morning. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. We enjoying panning for marine fossils and arrowheads and a round of putt putt. Great way to spend a couple hours.

Love this place and the family that owns it. Met Doc years ago when we lived up there. Can’t recommend any other location for
Gem Mining anymore! Do yourself a favor and go here, take a look at the museum as well. It’s a personal collection with a T-REX Head!

Our 4 grandchildren had a great time gem mining today. We got 2 large buckets for gem mining and an arrow head bag of sand. We found lots of Arrowheads and the kids found a whole bunch of gems, some very nice ones. In fact some of the rocks we actually had earrings made. There were other activities there but we were off to other activities.

We took our sons here after their Grandparents took in the summer. It was fun but just way overpriced. I wish that sometimes businesses keep in mind that not everyone has a 2nd home for summertime in Blowing Rock.

The fossil museum was amazing. Isaac was our tour guide and he is extremely knowledgeable and will tell you everything you want to know about all the fossils they have, which is very extensive.

Very nice place, do your research on your rocks before you go if your looking to sell your collection. Only gives vendors prices, took a BIG LOSS on our collection would have made WAY more money selling them off piece by piece.

We really enjoyed our first time gem mining and learning all about our treasures. The staff was very friendly and thoroughly knowledgeable about the different gemstones. We purchased a big bucket and made back our money and then some with our finds. We can't wait to get our rubies cut and the rest of the stones polished up.

We went to the fossil museum, gem mining and mini golf. Everything was great. Starting with the museum, the collection is impressive, very well organized and displayed. What we liked most about this part was our tour guide Isaac. He was super knowledgeable, had a great attitude and it is clear that he's passionate about geology and archeology. We learned a lot. Then the mini golf. Very nice, its inside and covered. Had a lot of fun. And finally the gem mining was nice and the kids found some great rocks and had lots of fun. Highly recommend very much worth the visit

We have been coming to docs roc's for a really long time. Even going to his 1st site on the side of the road way back when. We went this morning, only ones in store, and were told that there wasnt enough people working to go over our gems. There were 5 people working.... My wife, my 6 yr old and 12 yr old each have jewelry made from docs, so they were very disappointed in this. We werent asked is there anything you'd like cut or would you like to know what this is? Just stones simply put in a bag, and thanks. I wont give another dime.
