Our beautiful horses, Buster and Penny, were kind souls and well-mannered. Penny had a few "stumbles" so I was a little concerned for her, but there were rocks on the trail. Staff gave very understandable instruction prior to starting. The stirrups were also appropriately adjusted for height / length. Our guide, Rhee, seemed to genuinely care for animals. The stables seemed to be in good condition, and the weather was nice that day. There is a restroom (outdoor porta-potty), and the last portion of road is not paved but easy enough to drive. Bring cash to pay.

Stopped by to see the horses. They all looked tired, old, and in need of some TLC. Several of the horses were in their stable with the saddle on, it made me wonder how long it had been on as a reached under one as a pet the bourse and it was damp with sweat. It was not a hot day. One of the horses stood with his right hind food not completely on the ground and he was also one that was saddled. All of them were in need of a good brushing and bath. Really made me sad

Guides were so kind and knowledgeable. Horses were gentle and easy to ride for beginners. Spent a beautiful day on the 2.5 hour trail and enjoyed every moment.

The wranglers smoked cigarettes the entire time. They had lit cigarettes hanging from their mouths while they were up in the horses’ faces (inches from the horse) and one wrangler smacked a horse in the face. Throughout the trail ride, the wranglers continued smoking and walked their horses instead of riding them. For the two hour trail, we ascended a gravel road for an hour at the wranglers walking pace (which was excruciatingly slow and frustrating for the horses) and riders. The trail was boring without much to see. Once we rode for an hour, we literally turned around and rode down for an hour. The mountaintop ride offered no view and no water features. The facility is very dirty and there were 2 Porto potties as restrooms and no running water.

My daughter and I went on a two hour ride, and rode Scout and Buster. We had a great time, and will definitely go back. The road to the stables can get a little muddy.

Jerry and his family were absolutely amazing. They were very professional and funny and ensured our kiddos were relaxed! The trail is beautiful and they interacted with us! Definitely recommend for family with kids!

We had a great time as a family on our guided 1-hr horseback ride. They were family friendly and accommodated our various levels of experience with horses. Beautiful trail to ride too!

Horses are very well cared for and gentle...good for young children. Leader was very personable ,but would have been interested in hearing more about the area.

My husband and I did a 3 hour ride. Beautiful ride through the forest. Horses were calm and did all the work. Time went by fast and I was glad we did the longer ride. I would go back! Horses appeared well taken care and staff was friendly.

My girls were a little apprehensive at first, as we are not riders. But the horses were gentle and our guide (Russell) was patient. Soon we got the hang of it. The ride through the woods was peaceful and fun. My horse Larry liked to lag behind, but we got along fine. I was quite attached to him by the end of the ride. We did the hour ride. We highly recommend the Pisgah Forest Riding Stables.
