Great beach for little ones on days where the surf is too rough in the ocean to enjoy the water. Even on the windiest days it would be hard to call the waves here real waves. Restroom facilities on site are primitive but there are several outdoor sand showers to clean off before the car ride home.

Great for kite surfing - wide open and expansive shallow flat are great for learning. It’s possible to walk 100 yards out into the water and be no deeper than knees-deep.

Bring a kayak and get out into the deeper water for some mean trout fishing.

This is a fabulous spot for windsurfers. Parking is great, and there is a lovely outdoor shower. The water is slightly deeper here, so you can bring a hydrofoil. Have fun!

Great place to learn or just watch. Sound is shallow there for easy learning. Great parking or can drive to waters edge with appropriate vehicle.

Great place to watch the kite surfers and sunset.

Loved the easy walk to the beach and shallow waters, but the rough sand and muddy bottom was not for us. We prefer the ocean side.

Lots of wind surfers to watch. We found hermit crabs and jellyfish along the shoreline. Didn’t get to test out the fact that it’s apparently shallow for a ways out so good for kids - will test that out next time. Was pretty crowded even with the bad weather and people not traveling as much as normal. I would imagine peak season it’s packed

This is a great place to go when the waves are too large ocean side, the water is calm. We wore our water shoes as the bottom isn't 100% sand, they are some silty areas and a little seaweed. My girls caught hermit crabs on the edge of the water, caught a few fish and even saw a baby ray.

The calm shallow water makes this the perfect place for children to play and parents to sit at the edge and relax. No one gets knocked down by large waves and there's plenty of room for many families there at the same time.

This is a great spot for families w children. Super shallow waters for yards from the beach, perfect for small chilluns and kayaks and water-boards. There's a nice stretch north of the beach where you can investigate salt marshes and beaches and tiny islands. There's good parking here, and nice but rustic restrooms. This is a popular spot with families, and rightly so. The rather thin beach can get a little crowded, but you'll meet very cool people here.

The Canadian Hole is the perfect spot for a good float! We visited twice on our last trip and it was great to drive right up on the sand beside the shore and hop in the water. Floating is easy over here. It's fun to watch the kite surfers in the afternoons.

My kids played here all day and still had to dragged away (ages 8 and 3). The water is shallow pretty far out and fairly calm (no waves). There are tons of small shells....highly suggest wearing water shoes of some kind. There is a strip of sand area to play in....not huge though and I can see how it would fill up quickly.
My older daughter snorkeled around and found crabs, small fish, lots of shells. There were fishermen standing further out in the sound and some kite boarders around.
