Really scenic and beautiful. However, parking is very limited, so you must get there early. Also, the trail to one set of falls was closed - but there was no notice of the closing until you hiked 1+ mile almost all the way to the falls

We did the High Falls Loop trail to see Triple Falls and High Falls. Both falls were beautiful! Then we continued on to the covered bridge and enjoyed watching the birds play. Then we drove to the Hooker Falls access area and did the short walk to the pretty falls. We went on a Thursday morning. If you are planning on going over a weekend, I would go as early as you can as it is a very popular place.

Beautiful waterfalls. Nice facilities.
Well maintained trails.
Pools below falls are stocked with rainbow trout.
My son and I caught 15 between High falls, triple, and Hooker falls, most of them 12" or more.

Hiked the short hike to Hooker Falls. Falls are beautiful, and if you feel the need, you can join others in the water.

This is the best place to see waterfalls! Traveled from Ashville...well worth it! Saw 4 waterfalls including High falls, triple falls, bridal veil falls and hooker falls. All different and all beautiful! Entire hike about 8+ miles. If planning on swimming at falls would skip bridal veil falls as would be difficult to swim there. If you have kids would plan on 1 or 2 falls. Fun for them to swim and climb on rocks!

I love the hiking and Mountain biking at Dupont. The waterfalls are beautiful. I have always found parking, but it can be difficult.

got some time to hike, check out DuPont National Forest great trails for those who don't hike on a regular basis, wide paths, Be sure to bring a lunch if you'd like to enjoy that by the falls. Water is essential as is bug spray and the proper shoes with a good tread. If you'd like to dunk in the water wear a bathing suit and enjoy the fresh water.

My friend and I hiked around Hooker Falls and High Falls. While there was plenty of parking at each destination, they reportedly fill up early so one should try to get to these attractions as soon as possible. These trails were well-maintained, but one must be careful with his or her footing in order not to fall. Some of the waterfalls are very slippery. One should be prepared for significant uphill and downhill hikes. The scenery was outrageous! It was truly breathtaking to look at these powerful and tall waterfalls.

Can a stroller be used on the following , trails; Hooker Falls Trail, Triple Falls high Falls Loop & Covered Bridge trail? We are hoping to visit these (or some of these with our dogs but one of them has some medical issues and can't walk far because of it. So, we will have a stroller to put him in as needed!

I’m thinking about visiting this park in the fall and noticed it doesn’t have any camping spots. Does anyone have a recommendations where to camp at nearby?

Pisgah National Forest is only 15 minutes away and has many camping spots.

Are there places to have a picnic without hiking?

Sure, but my recommendation is to get there and go to the ranger station for advice and maps / info to where best to picnic for what you would like to see.

Could we do the triple Falls trailhead with a stroller?

There were families there with strollers when I have visited. There is gravel so as long as your stroller can handle that you should be fine. There are steps so you would have to leave the stroller at the top if you chose to go to the lower viewing area. There are plenty of places to view the all the falls, the river, the covered bridge and nature without using the steps. Enjoy!

Which falls are best for kids to play in?

Western Australia, Australia77 contributions
I would say triple falls are optimum for kids to play around and do a little bit of hike as well. Pools are very expansive their with flat rocks to have little bit of picnic as well.

DuPont State Forest and Pisgah National Forest are less than an hour from Asheville. Both have waterfalls.

Single mom here and not the best swimmer. Do you think it's safe for 9&11 year olds to swim? Do they need a life vest?
NCWFUcyclingVet
Huntersville, NC365 contributions
The water is very shallow at Hooker Falls, so you shouldn't have a problem unless you get close to the center of the falls where it is a little deeper. A life vest couldn't hurt, but probably not necessary. You can climb up the rocks and get behind the waterfall, but that could be dangerous. While we were there, there were 2 rangers watching and never told anyone to stay off the face of the Falls. There are signs to stay off of the top of the Falls.
