I have taken grandkids to the Discovery Place on 2 occasions, most recently in January. Both visits were fun for both kids and adults. We had to encourage the younger grandkids to leave the first area where they played with water and different blocks and air tubes. The docents were knowledgeable and great with interacting with children. I even laid... More

This is a nice little museum for all ages. Right now great exhibition about Ghengis Khan. That's the feature, plenty more going on. Now if you are expecting the Smithsonian, don't go; you will be sorely disappointed. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Parking is a little tricky but not so much so to stay away. I mentioned the Khan exhibit... More

Pricey, but Had a good time, definitely more of a family venue activity. Geared towards young kids. IMAX movie was good.

I visited as a nonmember. It cost me over $100 for four adult and two teens. We got there around 1:30 and where asked to leave at 4PM, closing time, on a weekday during spring break. Lots on hands on thing to do, but not for teens. Also they had a nice exhibition on an Asia despot who name I... More

The exhibits change throughout the year. Sometimes they are really interesting, other times they are just okay. For the most part, this is a great place to spend the day!

Honestly, I dont want to go into too many details on what is inside of Discovery Place, as to do so would spoil the sense of wonder this location can offer. Instead, I will tell you a bit about WHY you should go visit, not how you should spend your visit there. Personally, I love science but though it can... More

Having recently moved to Charlotte we didn't know what to expect. Our grand children were visiting and we chose to them here for a day. It was outstanding, so much to do and see . . . all of the hands-on experiences for the kids (and us too). And, then on the third floor, the kids could make something from... More

Our trip to the Discovery Place was great. We had no issues and my 5 year old had a blast. She even got to be a volunteer for one of the science shows and she is still talking about it a week later. While we did have fun, this place takes less than a day to do. The aquarium area... More

Although they have polished up some of Discovery Place, it is essentially the same as it was 20 years ago - most of the same exhibits, etc. It was fine - the IMAX is great - but not sure I ever need to go back.

A fairly decent interactive science museum in the heart of uptown Charlotte that is spread out over 3 levels. A nice planetarium is a part of the complex, but has an additional fee. Special shows come through several times a year. We saw BodyWorks - it was awesome. Perhaps, too awesome for my 10-year-old son (he was freaked out). Always... More
