This is a brand-new art museum in center city Charlotte, N.C. I found the museum to be interesting, but with significant limitations for serious lovers of modern art.

Small but beautiful location

This museum is not large but houses many interesting artifacts. The various rooms have great exhibits and there is always someone available if you have any questions.

Most museums are difficult to visit briefly. This is not a large space. A beautiful space inside and out. We always stop when we are in town. Possibly everything we've seen is owned by the museum but not sure. Relatively small exhibits but top tier content always; rivals the great museums of the world, but maybe just one of the... More

From the outside the building is quite impressive. The building is impressive inside too but the artwork is underwhelming. There was a sign on the door when I entered that the fourth floor was closed and I was again told this when I got my $8 ticket. I just didn't realize that there would be hardly any artwork on either... More

My daughters and I were thrilled to know that we could see a Picasso and an Andy Warhol within walking distance of our uptown hotel. In addition, there are many other modern pieces to enjoy; the display of the art is well done, as well as the commentary. Every room had someone available to answer questions, and the museum had... Some good and interesting pieces, but you can zip through the whole place in about an hour or less. The staff were all very helpful, but I was hoping (more like craving) for more to see. If you have a Bank of America account, or if you have already paid to go to the Mint Museum next door, use your... More

We have been to Bechtler several times. They do not appear to change the exhibits around very often. Beautiful building! Kids love statue outside, wonderful setting! A much need addition to uptown. A must see!

If you ever go to art school you will eventually have the discussion on how to frame a painting. Normally, the frame is to complement the art piece. The Bechtler is about framing the collection, and they have done an outstanding job. I find the collection good, but the staff has taken it up a notch by showing how the... More

This museum holds the collection of a family, so much of it was not in my taste. But I found it very interesting nonetheless.I most liked the Andy Warhol paintings. There were people on each floor who you could ask questions of, and I had a lively conversation with one of them about the importance of art in life. It... More

My wife, son and I went her for something to do during our stay in Charlotte. It was $8/person. Thank goodness my wife found a Groupon discount that saved us $10. The entire museum is 4 floors. 1st floor is lobby, admin counter, and gift shop. 2nd floor has about 25 items to look at. 3rd floor has about 25... More
