It was cool and quite windy the day we stoped by. But there were several kite boarders out in the water so that was fun to watch. The beach is beautiful and wide so lots of places to sit and enjoy the ocean.

Frisco Beach is a peaceful beach. Uncrowded with people spaced out. Great place for shelling. Plenty of space for kids to run, fly kites. All of the other guests and locals are really laid back and friendly! Although this was our first visit it won’t be out last!

We've been staying here for years. Always been able to stake out a spot with nobody within 100 yards in each direction even in July/August. Its horrible all the room we have. Nobody kicking sand on us or our food. Occasional visitors stopping by to ask about our 2 monstrous Newfoundland dogs (in the shade). What a pain!
We'd like to keep it that way, so kindly stay away. Go to Nags Head or Kitty Hawk and leave us to our totally wonderful Frisco Beach.
OK, I lied, so sue me.

My family has been going to the outer banks for over 30 years. In the late 70s we started up near Kitty Hawk and we've moved progressively further south. Until we got to Frisco. That's where we stopped. We've been renting beach houses there for over 10 years now. There are no hotels, so it's very uncrowded, but the real reason is the water. If you stay up north in the Duck/Kitty Hawk/Nags Head area, you are at the mercy of the wind. If the wind is blowing in, you'll get the gulf stream and the water will be warm. If the wind is blowing out, you'll get the Labrador current and the water will be cold. But once you get down to Cape Hatteras, you're always in the gulf stream and the water is always warm.
How much difference does it make? Last week when we were there the water at Frisco was 80 degrees... cool and refreshing, but not cold. At the same time, the water at Kitty Hawk was 69 degrees... way to cold for my taste.
There are compromises to be made in everything. The main attraction (one might argue the only attraction) in Frisco is the beach. Not many (though a couple) great restaurants to choose from, and not much in the way of non-beach recreational facilities. If you've got pre-teen kids, this could be a deal breaker. But if you are all about the beach, this is the place.

I truly love tent camping at Billy Mitchell's Campground; however, I was there in May and June of 2018 and it was miserable. Friends and family spent the entire time at Frisco Beach (which was delightful) because we couldn't tolerate the bugs. The bathroom facilities are very clean. The shower is nice but cold . . . I actually didn't want to get out of the shower because I knew I was going to be attacked by mosquitoes! For dinner, instead of cooking out like planned we all found places to eat. Two recommendations are SOLs and Pop's. Hopefully, this problem will subside soon because I really want to be able to camp there again.

Frisco Beach is a terrific beach for finding seashells. I found Konch seashells and sand dollar seashells. Frisco Beach is on Cape Hatteras Island. Great seashells at a beachfront campground on Billy Mitchell Road near the Gun Club. An off road permit is needed to drive on beach.

We were told by the park ranger last year that the waves at Frisco beach were more gentle because of the curve in the Outer Banks. This year we rented a house in Frisco and found the waves to be much better for children than at Avon. The beach does not have the erosion found in Avon. The beaches are wide and with a very small slope. Highly recommend this for families with small children. The handicapped ramp maintained by the park is also located near the remains of the Frisco pier.

Don't tell anyone. This is the best beach on the east coast. Not crowded, with soft sand and great access.

Recently had a beach day in Frisco and this was an excellent beach! The beach and water was clean and not too crowded. We parked in a parking lot area that had bathrooms, outdoor showers, and a clean water fountain for humans & dogs!

We did a Sunday morning and drive down to Frisco and then took the intro Dune Road from ramp 47 to the Point. I was in amazement, not a soul in sight with deer nibbling on their breakfast. Definitely bring your binoculars.

How do you get out to Frisco Beach? We're on OBX, looking for shells. Went to below where the pier used to be yesterday. The only shells there were the small coquina shells. Parked near restrooms with a handicap ramp up to it and then out to the beach. Is the place you're speaking of? Tnx.

There are more places by the airport. Must places are acceptable by 4 wheel drive. Buxton, Avon and Rodanthe have great beaches to walk to they have walkways and parking lots. Better shelling there. Also We adventures by Tammy Grey had a boat she take u out on for shelling.

I'm trying to find Frisco Beach on Google Maps but each time it shows a different location. We're coming from Avon and are considering going to the lighthouse and the beach. Can you please advise on an address or how to find it? Thanks!

It's on your left just after Frisco Gun & Tackle Shop I believe which is attached to the Frisco Post Office. There may also be a sign for Billy Mitchell Airfield? Hope this helps.

We will be coming to Frisco soon, and will be staying at a rental property for a week near what is left of the Frisco Pier. Is it ok to set up our tent and leave it up the whole week, or do we have to tear it down and pack it up each day?
Written 7 August 2016
My understanding is that is to be taken down at the end of the day. That being said, I saw tents that remained standing. It's a quiet beach and most people would likely not care since there is room for everyone. My primary concern would be how sturdy is your tent? The winds can be very strong.
