Great place to walk. You can park at Gold Park on Dimmicks Road or you can park at the City lot near town. Great walking paved area. ONe can ride their bicycles there also!

If you are looking for an easy walk you will enjoy this 3.1 mile loop along the Eno River and through the trees. It offers wide paved paths, boardwalks, and bridges (with a few natural trails) and is open from 8:00am until a half hour after sunset. It's also part of the North Carolina Mountain-to- Sea Trail.

After looking at a map online you can choose from 3 access points - Gold Park at 415 Dimmocks Mill Road, the main entrance behind the Eno River Parking Deck (downtown Hillsborough) at the end of Nash & Kollock Street, and River Park at 140 E. Margaret Lane. You will find informational signs along the trail telling you about the areas history.

It's dog friendly but dogs must be on a leash at all times. You can easily make your walk as long or as short as you want. And be sure to keep your eyes open for all types of wildlife. If you need to rest there are plenty of benches along the trail as well as a picnic area.

Just open August 2014 the two mile segment of the Mountains to the Sea Trail along the Eno River features paved pathway suitable for walking, biking, wheelchairs. Crosses the river on amazing bridges. Connects the Historic District with the West Hillsborough Gold Park and businesses.

Riverwalk had been recommended to us in Chapel Hill by people from Cary who knew the area. One of the reasons that we loved Hillsborough was this winding, paved, four-mile trail meant for riding and walking that extended itself in many places to key attractions downtown. There were historical markers, beautiful scenery and vistas, and friendly runners and walking pedestrians who came for exercise and a break from it all. Cherry Wonderdog looks forward to returning soon on bike.

If you are in the Hillsborough area, park in the free public parking structure and take the river walk. This is a gorgeous easy walk along the Eno river.
The path is level and well maintained. You do not need special clothing to take this walk.
A great way to break up your visit to the historic Hillsborough area.

This is a great little greenway! My family loves Hillsborough- we took the Greenway in- walked it in entirety and came stopped in the cafe right off the boardwalk in downtown Hillsborough for drinks and a snack. We made our way up the street to the quilt shop and chocolate shop for a treat before heading back. A great hiking/biking trail! Hillsborough is a very charming place with several trails. Highly Recommend!!

My sweetie and I have been several times, NEVER DURING EVENING OR NIGHT time. Some areas of the walk are very isolated and no one would know of your plight until over and done with. As to the character of the Riverwalk, it is composed of several areas thereby allowing one to choose a long walk or a short jaunt and then back to the realtive safety of your vehicle. All-in-all it is a nice walk, BUT, be careful and at all times be aware of your surroundings.

This is a well groomed, wide trail. The beginning is concrete and then it is Chapel Hill gravel. It is along the Eno River, but for about half of it you can't see the river because you're a bit away from it. Part of the trail follows the sewer line so occasionally you smell the bad smell from the manholes. The trail is 1.7 miles one way. It is a little challenging finding the trailhead.

Easy walk on a paved path. Good for bikes and running. Shady areas so you are not in the hot sun. Plenty of trees and wildflowers. A great family activity for some exercise and fresh air.
