This is great to see where the first flight took place. You can hike up Big Kill Devil Hill where the Wright brothers lifted off for their first flight. The main museum is under reconstruction but this is still a worthwhile visit.

This is a very interesting park, excellent for kids but more for teenages and older since the climb and all the walking around could be tiring for the younger kids. The park is clean and very informative. While we were there two airplanes landed in the nearby landing strip alongside the grassy area the wright brothers flew.

As others have said, the visitor center is closed for remodeling. It looks like it will be very nice when it is completed. For now, you have the gift shop (nothing special) and some posters on a wall (definitely nothing special). The restrooms are open. They accept the Natl Park Pass if you have one. The site itself isn't all... More

There aren't very many things to read about the Wright brothers, but there are knowledgeable rangers around. When we were at the memorial, a ranger had a picture of the Wright Brothers camp, so you could see what it looked like when they were conducting their test flights. He was great to talk to and knew lots about them. It... More

A very interesting piece of history. Imagine history without flight. A must see for any aviation enthusiast, or history buff should not miss this. A new Visitor Center is being constructed.

I loved this memorial. There are markets showing where the flights commenced and then 4 markets showing the actual distance of each flight. You have an amazing view from the top of the hill. This memorial made history come alive for my family.

What happened here, how it happened and who did it demand respect from everyone who has ever flown. It's out of the way but you will be glad that you made the effort. Additionally there are many other things to see and do in the area.

If you are a history buff, this is a must-see. My sons were very interested in going so we went. The website clearly states that the visitor center museum is closed for renovations, so I'm not sure why people are so surprised by that. Everything is outside and it is a LOT of walking. The memorial is on a very... More

Most of the visit was outdoors. They do have a small temporary visitor center but when I say small it is small. One place that all Americans should see. They have a recently erected metal sculpture of the Wright Flyer that is at the base of the monument that is a great picture taking location. Reconstruction should take 18 months.

After reading about the park in all the local advertisement magazines, and checking the Wright Brothers site on the internet, there was no indication that the museum was closed for renovation. A visitor must pay admission from your car, upon entering the park, so when we entered and paid, the lady at the gate failed to tell us that the museum... More
