Sadly the visitors center is still under renovation & restoration, so it won’t be open until the fall. However, it’s an amazing place to visit & climb/walk the path up the dune where the Wright brothers took flight.

We had a great time visiting the memorial. The main building is closed for renovations. We walked up the hill where they did their first successful flight. It was originally a sand dune. They must have been exhausted by the time they reached the top....More

Great experience. Very educational. Friendly Rangers. Highly recommend. Walk the flight paths. Walk up to the memorial. Temporary visitor center was just ok.

We went as the sun was going down, and it was off seasons, so it wasn't too crowded. The building is closed for renovations so there isn't as much to see. It is really fun walking up the hill and seeing the stones that mark...More

The area was excellently presented by the National Park Service. With its location in the town of Kill Devil Hill one has no excuse not to visit if in the area. While you can do a quickie visit in about 30 minutes, several hours are...More

During our visit the visitor center was still under construction, but the outside walk and hike to the memorial was really great. Our entire family really enjoyed it!

My wife is a native of Ohio, so we knew about the Wright brothers. However we learned even more about them from our visit to their National Memorial in North Carolina. Ohio ("first in aviation") and North Carolina ("first in flight") have a friendly feud...More

Main visitor center under reconstruction this summer, so not everything is available. It is, essentially, a great place for a family walk with some history most kids can understand.
