Great explanations of what occurred regarding the first controlled flight. Can get crowded (even in November) so go early. Be prepared for wind (Why the Wright brothers chose this place). Nice drive around the dune top monument for those who can't walk it. Somewhat a wild area - we saw a deer cut across a field into some thick cover.

Was here years ago and it has gotten a lot better. Excellent museum, guide lecture, and outdoor exhibits for elementary school age and up. They really give an understanding of how difficult the achievement was and at sense of proportion of how primitive it was compared to now. For example, one exhibit had markers for the first day's flights and kids can run the same course and compare their times (often faster!). The monument may now be the least interesting thing there, except to people who enjoy climbing the hill.

This is a nice spot to visit if you're visiting the Outer Banks in North Carolina. Great for families and a place for a short hike.

Upon entry you stop by a gate to pay for parking. Then you start your experience at the visitors center where they have a museum and gift shop. Docent led tours happen throughout the day or you can peruse the grounds at your convenience. Lulu, the ranger who gave our tour, was amazing! Lots of things to see while at the park.

There were a lot of people here when we went. However, my family loved how cheap it was to visit. The monument itself is a bit of a hike uphill, but very worth it!

Super cool place. Great visitor center, talks by park ranges. The monument hill looks great (but we didn't climb it because HOT!), the stone markers and hut recreation awesome, and the climbable flyer on the far side of the hill was lots of fun. Must visit!

Such a great museum. Very well done
A wonderful experience to explore the stories of our history of flight. There is hands on exploration. Visual entertainment and science of engineering from that era. The tools used and fabrication of building the kitty Hawk

This is a must see when visiting the OBX. Lots of walking. National Memorial is most impressive. The Ranger talks are great. Very informative. You could easily spend 2 to 4 hours here depending on your interests. It’s quite moving when the planes fly low over the site, paying homage to the Wright Brothers. We learned a lot while here!

Very surprised at the extent and layout of this memorial. Plan to walk a bit to get to the top of the hill, which is accessible. Tip - if you can't or don't want to walk all the way there is parking at the base of the hill.

So we didn’t take a tour like we wanted to, was not enough time to do everything we wanted to do, so we went in the evening and walked up to the monument. It was a breathtaking view. Many people were walking up to the top and biking around the area. Next time we are in the area we are going to experience the full educational experience. What we did see was fantastic!
