We went in search of a falls with hiking trails that weren't too difficult since my husband has had some recent ligament issues. This hiking trail had several options starting from easy to difficult almost scrambling. We went on the 'green' trail to the Upper Falls and it was a nice hike with a few parts a challenge with rocky... More

The scenery along the Linville River to the falls and through the gorge is superlative even in a region of superlatives. Wondered at first as headed that way on the Blue Ridge Parkway from Grandfather Mountain and saw a sign for Linville Falls in the middle of the woods on the mountainside, nowhere near a water source. I guess that... More

Took the little hike in with wife & three year old hiking and under one son in a shoulder pack. We enjoyed the fairly easy hike to areas to view the falls. I would recommend doing this if you are in the area and enjoy nature

We loved these falls and the walk was easy. The trails are marked and the foliage was so pretty. We got some beautiful photos here.

The Linville Falls is a easy walk / hike about a mile total and there are 3 overlooks outs to go see: Upper Falls Overlook, Chimney View Overlook, and Erwin View. I think the best views, closest to the water, best for photos and easiest to get to is the 1st one you will come to and see through the... More

We had the joy of being in this area during peak Fall Foliage. The river, the falls, the surrounding areas were magnificent! I suppose it helped that it was a week day, and not the weekend. Plan ahead, as there are few signs and few amenities along the Blue Ridge Parkway - and most of us nature lovers like it... More

bring your camera and sit a spell. The upper falls and chimney were awesome to sit and gaze at. Wear good shoes and bring water.

I have been in the Linville Gorge, the Linville River, Wiseman's View (West Side), and the following features on the East Side of the Gorge: Table Rock Mtn., The Chimneys, and the Mummy Buttress (climbing) ares. The Linville River is at the bottom of cliff systems that are 600 - 1,200 ft. high. There is a spectaculor waterfall just off... More
