Fantastic Views!

Spectacular views. The ride is bumpy but beautiful. We rode from Lineville Falls to Morganton and had a great time. MUST have the right vehicle for this ride. We were in a 4 wheel drive Jeep Commander.

SPECTACULAR! Brave the drive (with right vehicle) GO!

Incomparable panoramic view! 4 mile dirt road to get there was 100% worth the bumpy drive! You will need a vehicle with decent ground clearance for some of the rough spots. Our AWD Honda CRV did great. It’s crazy to take that much dirt road and arrive at a decent size parking lot with a paved walking trail out to the viewing areas. Loved it! Pictures don’t do it justice, Some great little campsites along the way, too. Wonderful!

WONDERFUL!

We went to see the Brown Mountain Lights but it was way too cloudy. However, we still enjoyed the cloud show as only nature can provide. We could still see the lights of Morganton very clearly every now and again and the moon as well. The road going to the View was in great shape as well. So, I can’t wait to go back and hope to see the Lights! It’s been awhile since I’ve seen them!

Beautiful color and view. Words cannot describe what we saw.

Spoiled by idiots fly drones for fun. Path to overview paved and handicap accessible.
Road to overview is very primitive and not for the faint of heart.
Worth the drive.

The perfect view!
Oct 2019 • Couples
Visited on our honeymoon with another couple. Only heard about this place from someone at a local winery. So glad we made the drive up the mountain! The road was a little skinny and rough but we had no problem in a truck and saw many regular cars up at the top! The view was insane and I wish we could visit year round to see how the foliage changes with each season. All I wanted on my honeymoon was leaves changing and that’s exactly what Wiseman’s view gave me!

Breathtaking view!

That road in needs immediate care! We saw so many people have to turn around and shame on the powers that be for letting this road go to crap. Fix it so we can get the young folks involved in the beautiful outdoors and the wonders that this beautiful state beholds!!

Awesome Views!

This was on our must see list for a long time and we finally made time to go. The 5 stars is for the end result of being able to see a panoramic view of Linville Gorge and the walking trail from parking area is an easy 2/10 mile. HOWEVER be aware that the gravel road required to travel up there is a 3.5 mile (takes about 20 minutes) ordeal that you will want a 4x4 vehicle for, but very much worth it! Question for anyone, “who” exactly was Erin Kris Wanless Broom who has a memorial plaque at the viewing area? Don’t recall ever seeing such an honor plaque in a National Park for someone who wasn’t a known person associated with the location.

Brown Mountain lights for real
May 2019 • Couples
My second visit to Wiseman’s view. Road hasn’t been improved upon at all. Would put a fussy baby to sleep at night for sure. Beautiful during the night and day. Yes, I saw the mysterious lights. Orbs on the opposite hill dancing like fireworks.

Brown mountain lights view
Sep 2018 • Friends
Wiseman‘s bluff is the perfect setting to view the mysterious lights of brown mountain. This is done during the evening at certain times of the month. We did not believe that there were lights that were a big part of this mountain at night. On our last visit we saw many many lights. This is quite a historic area and there are many explanations as to what causes these lights. We are believers now that we have seen the lights. A trip worth making. Very rough roads leading to the parking area for the view.

We drove up the Mountain to the parking lot at the top.. NEED to have vehichle that can handle gravel, bumps, and steep sections.. The 4 mile gravel road was worth it when we got up there. Seemed like we would never get there, and the road was ROUGH..
