nestled on top of backside of Buck mountain and easily accessed via county paved road... has several ski slopes available and in warmer temp days, you can still count on the man-made snow to ski on and the lodge is very excellent... well worth the trip and money... and bring your camera

Who would think you could ski this far south. This was the 2nd time my teenagers went skiing. We did have an instructor which was a HUGE help. The kids thought the instructor here was much more through than the instructor they had in Oben. For their level of skiing it was perfect. Helped their confidence. They didn't want to... More

Rented a cabin in the area and stayed with some friends. I choose the all day pass and got my moneys worth (ski-ed for 9 hours that day with occasional breaks for food) . As a beginner skier, the slopes seemed very well groomed and the staff were extra friendly. At night, though, I noticed that the slopes were MUCH... More

Cataloochee has a lot going for it. Price for lift tickets isn't one of them. I have no idea if the ticket is graduated, based on number of slopes open, but it feels priced based on the fact it is the only game for a few hours. What it does have going for it is convenience, a friendly staff, and... More

We had a great day skiing. Always plan ahead by checking the weather first. We went mid week after a mini snow storm. Couldn't have been better timing. They have recently added to lodge and have streamlined equipment rental. Good job. Use their website for pricing, weather and snow reports.

If you are expecting Vail, Breckinridge, etc. you will be very disappointed. If you are expecting a fun day on minimal slopes/manufactured snow (like I was), you will have a great time. All the employees were very courteous. For skiing in the south, it was a lot of fun. The only negative is the price. The lift ticket is way... More

Obviously the snow quality varies year to year, but for small kids this is a good drivable option. It would probably be better though if you could stay on the mountain as the logistics with small kids is challenging. We always brought grandparents to help watch and transport kids as you sort of need an extra set of hands since... More

We have been going for years and this year we have been twice. Just got back. There were not a lot of trails open and the price was not reduced... which it should have been. There were several grassy spots. I would assume they will have to be closing soon. Remember snow skiing is not something to be taken lightly.... More
