This was a great family experience. Jill was friendly and knowledgeable. We found surprisingly large gemstones and geodes. Don't make the mistake we made, and go for a small bucket. It's is done with too fast and the gems are not as big or as special. Once over the sticker shock, it is more econominal to go with the $70 super bucket that we shared and has much better gems. We found a huge sparkling amethyst and more. Caution to RV drivers. The parking lot is small and there is no way to turn around if you are towing anything. We were stuck. But thanks to Jill and her "can do" attitude, she arranged for others to move their cars so then we had the space to drop the car and manuver around and reattach the car to the RV. Lack of RV parking aside, we highly recommend this experience

Fun activity for the kids (and even the adults). My 8 year old son’s favorite activity of the day and my teenager had almost as much fun! I mean, who doesn’t love searching for buried treasure knowing they are guaranteed to find something? It’s outdoors, but in the shade/covered so can be done rain or shine. There are benches by the “stream”, so you can sit or stand, whatever you are comfortable with. I think the location and being outdoors added to the charm. Range of price points to accommodate any budget. The employees, Gerit, Coner and Joenuh, were top notch. Very friendly, personable and knowledgeable about the gems, rocks and fossils found in the mining buckets. We will definitely be back if ever in the area again and would recommend to anyone wanting a few hours of fun!

We had a blast at the gem mine today! The prices are reasonable, the facility is nice, and we found some great stones! Also, Garrett was extremely helpful and informative. We are already looking forward to our next trip!

My wife, son, his girlfriend and I went over the Memorial holiday weekend. Jesse, Jorge, Keenan, & Garrett could not of been anymore cheerful and helpful. They really went out of there way to answer all of our questions. You could tell right away that they were extremely knowledgeable. There are true Rockstars. !!!

Great value. The kids really enjoyed panning for the gems. We were very impressed with what all we found in our buckets. We plan to visit this place again in the future. When we visited, it was raining, but we still had a blast and it did not interrupt our fun at all.

Bought a deal off of Groupon, well worth it! Staff is very helpful and courteous as well as knowledgeable about the area. Kids had a blast searching through the buckets finding all sorts of different rocks and gems to bring home. Definitely recommend for families with both younger and older children.

We visited on the weekend and had a blast! We got the “small specialty bucket” and we had 3 adult diggers. We spent about an hour digging through the buckets and found a nice array of fossils, geos, and gemstones! Everything we found was decent sized, too.

They don’t have they own mine and makes it hard to find anything good. I got the $65 buckets and it was disappointing. I got a bunch of canine teeth that was very nasty and creepy and full of sand. Will definitely will not go back to this place, feels like they are getting their stuff from the store and putting them on a bucket full of sand for you to find it. I was at the Gem Mountain and that was amazing. I was hoping to get the same experience in this mine but is not really a mine at all.

Thank you for your review. I would love to have a chance to talk to you more about your experience and see some pics. Please give me a call at (828)367-8330. While we do not have a mine to go in, all of our mining mixes are shipped to us directly from mines in Franklin,NC, Brazil, Madagascar, Mexico, Uruguay and Morocco. They are all unsearched and random. I have never seen a canine tooth in the 5 years we have been open. We do see shark teeth, megalodon teeth and the occasional fossilized horse or bear tooth. I purchase from mines that have sand as a substrate because people can search them and not get completely filthy with mud. Thanks again for stopping by. I hope we can have a chance to up your experience!

My group went to one of the mines and I'm trying to take my youth group to the same one. The mine we went to several years ago also had a trail to walk through and some of the kids actually were sluicing in the stream. I was wondering if this were your place. There are 32 of us and was also wondering if you gave church discounts or large group discounts. Any help would be a blessing!

We have been in Pisgah Forest for 2 years. We do have a stream that kids can play in but we do not mine in the stream for eco reasons. We do have group discounts and can accommodate groups up to 120. We are also minutes away from some of the most beautiful waterfalls in the southeast. Call us at 828-367-8330 for more details. Thanks for the great question! Daryl Waldrop, owner
