FYI - due to storm damage, part of the Stone Man loop trail is closed. If you want to visit the bottom of any/all three of the waterfalls, park at the LOWER trailhead parking lot and go to the falls...do not go over the top...More

Stone Mountain State Park, in northwestern North Carolina, offers invigorating walks, impressive vistas, and idyllic environs for fishing, horseback riding, picnicking, and camping. A spectacular 600-foot granite dome is the focal point for the 13,800-plus acre park that bears its name. More than 16 miles...More

There were barely 2 camping sites available when we booked and the single image of our campsite on the website itself looked too good to be true. It was actually so much better than the picture can do justice! We went in the first week...More

Stone is justly famous for slab climbing and runouts. What a terrific place. The slab is beautiful and sticky rather than polished (mostly). You have to do the Arch.

Stone Mountain is my favorite place to hike. It has an unusual, almost lunar landscape at the summit of the mountain from the erosion of the granite rock face over time. The main loop is just over four miles long, and is some of the...More

Went with my wife and two girls. We walked around five miles. Very easy walk though there were some stairs by stone falls. The weather was great. Looks to have fall leaves next week (first week of Oct.).
