Such an interesting history of lifesaving on the Outer Banks. Against all odds these heroes risked their lives to rescue victims of shipwrecks.

This was one of the best stops of our trip. Fascinating history with an extremely knowledgeable staff. You'll love it plus learn some history about life on the Outer Banks!

Excellent afternoon at this museum.... Thursday's at 2pm are the live reenactment which is a must see! So informative and everyone involved was very passionate about the history. On the day we were there, a high school group was also involved in the reenactment. We learnt so much about the history of the coast guard and also got to walk through several historic buildings on the ground. Our 11 year old son also found it very interesting....would definitely recommend for families with children/tweens!

Very interesting museum explaining the life saving efforts in the late 1800 and early 1900's. We were fortunate enough to be there on a day that they performed a reenactment; absolutely fascinating. You could tell everyone involved is proud of the history/heritage.

Our group loved this museum! The retired Coast Guard gentleman that spoke to us about the history was wonderful. We saw the reenactment and understood the hard work these men do to save Iives. The artifacts in the museum were so cool and interesting! So happy these items and stories were preserved! Love the individual buildings we were able to enter. The woman who worked in the gift shop was so sweet and informative. Thank you to all of you that made our visit so enjoyable. Thank you Coast Guard and all members of the military.

This is a nice, self guided tour of the historical life saving station founded in 1874. There are 3 buildings in total to tour. On Thursdays there is a live demonstration / drill.

The gift shop has nice souvenirs. Highly recommend as a historical visit for anyone interested in public safety.

Great spot to learn about the history of about the people who were involved in ship wreck rescue. The staff is knowledgeable and likes to talk about the history of the site. A lot of the buildings have been restored. It is always nice to find a nice piece of history like this. It was nor crowed only a few people there when we went which I liked but it is too bad that more people don’t go in at least spend a little time to learn about the history of live saving and the people who risk their lives to save others. It is worth a stop.

This place is almost in a desolate location in the Outer Banks. I really liked the buildings that were renovated to how they looked in the main time period when this station was in use. Its most famous rescue was the crew of the Mirlo, 42 of whom were rescued from a burning tanker which was torpedoed by the Germans in WWI. There are several movies to watch but they were a bit boring. I liked the buildings out back better.

This is a great place to go if you enjoy learning about history. It really makes you respect what these lifesaving heroes accomplished. The lady working at the gift shop is very helpful and you can tell that she really enjoys the history of this lifesaving station. The restrooms seemed to be newer and were very clean.
