Just to walk the pier you must pay 2 dollars- fishing is priced differently. The guy at the gate was a great guy full of tales and when the best time to fish is- if you are their to fish you also will pay 15 dollars to park.

You pay for the location and the view.

Renting cottages since 1992, my wife and I agreed that, Serendipity (The Inn at Rodanthe), was the filthiest and most neglected cottage, as far as maintenance both inside and out, we have ever stayed in. I would be embarrassed to have anyone come to this rental property as a guest of my family.

Because this cottage was used as a prop in a Hollywood movie, it has a reputation to live up to, and your promoting it as such, without much needed maintenance or thorough inspection (for fire hazards, electrical issues, toxic mold/mildew, broken and ill-maintained deck furniture, missing knobs on doors and drawers, interior wall/ceiling issues, etc.), reflects negatively on the cottage, itself and the rental company, in our opinion.

Unusable living spaces inside and unsafe areas outside.

I cannot believe you even allow this to be one of your rental properties.

Any reviews concerning this property will not be positive.
This property needs to be completely overhauled and thoroughly cleaned and inspected for toxic mold/mildew in the walls and needs to come with a warning to anyone who has respiratory issues.
FINAL ASSESSMENT: DO NOT RENT THIS PROPERTY- IT IS A RIP-OFF $$$$

We were sightseeing in Rodanthe and decided to look for the house described in Nicholas Sparks book “Nights in Rodanthe”. We expected to see the ocean front house seen in the movie of the same name but quickly learned it had been moved down the road to save it from storms typical in this area. When we put the address I got off the Internet, the house pictured is the one the directions led me too. I learned later it was moved to about a mile down the road. It was once known as the Inn at Rodanthe but I read the current owners have restored it to the way it looked in the movie.

We stayed at the Rodanthe House, 9 High School girlfriends! The house is amazing, plenty of room for every one. And the view is awesome.

We checked in around 7:30pm on August 15, 2020, after 8 hours drive. The day before, we received an e-mail with the check-in instructions, stating that due to Covid they needed extra time to thoroughly clean and sanitize, so the check in was at 7pm, which we understood. Imagine our surprise when we arrived and found out that not only the property was not thoroughly cleaned but it was barely cleaned. The bathrooms had dried up urine on and under the toilet seats, the bathroom sinks had toothpaste and sand, mirrors were dirty and you could clearly see hair in the shower walls and floors. Upon checking the bedrooms, we found out that the bedsheets had not been changed, only the beds were made. Under the cover sheets we found more hair, sand and something that looked that dry grass. Disgusted with our findings throughout we spent the night sleeping on the top sheets and without taking showers. We called the Management office the next morning and they promised to send someone to clean and change the sheets. The Cleaning Manager was not surprised or very apologetic, which leads me to believe that this is not the first time this had happened… A couple, with a child, showed up in the afternoon to clean. They only cleaned the bathrooms and brought in a bag of bed sheets, which upon a test smell did not smell like sheets I would want to sleep in, so we ended up washing sheets for 5 bedrooms and making the beds ourselves on our first day on vacation. The cleaning crew was obviously in a hurry and were not planning to clean a whole lot, because when they were getting ready to leave, we asked them to vacuum and they were clearly annoyed. We asked to speak to a Manager and were seriously considering leaving and going elsewhere, but he said that we cannot get a refund but would give us back the cleaning fee and a small discount. As of today, we have not received any refund. The property needs a lot of cleaning and dusting. Furniture has not been moved in years. We had to move the couch in the leaving room to find a piece from a board game that fell under and there was about half of inch of dust and other small items from other people who had stayed there before. Of course, there were also roaches… And we paid about $5,800 for a week of stay there. We definitely did not get what we paid for…

Nice place to take the family for pier fishing. They rent poles for $10 for the day and charge $4 to replace the hook/sinker rig it you get it snagged on the pier (which we did we sure to get the line out a bit to avoid this). Bait was low cost and they had plenty. Also a decent supply of tackle if you have your own poles. The week we were in town the pier was never overly crowded. If you watch the camera they have what you probably see, when it looks crowded, are just the people walking the pier for the view and not actually fishing. We did not catch anything amazingly big, but we did manage to catch fish each time we went out. The week were there they also add a couple new benches to sit on while fishing. The arcade is rather lacking. It had a claw machine, a race car game and two pinball machines and maybe one other thing I do not recall. If you are looking for an arcade, this is not it.

My family and I stayed in a house near the Rodanthe Pier. Our rental home actually came with 6 passes to the pier for the week. It's a nice pier that offers fishing, as well as just hanging out. The pier has several benches to sit on and enjoy the views. It also had picnic tables set up. The one night they even had live music. They also offer many different beverages. I had a few beers and they were good and cold. We also spent some time on the beach next to the pier and could see that the pier is well maintained and in good shape. The staff was friendly.

Beautiful area A great family vacation area. All types of fun things to do here and in neighboring areas. We took a boat ride and watched dolphins. We also did pottery which is a great way to remember the trip.

Actually I live on the island and fish off this pier almost every day. The staff is extremely helpful regarding what bait, sinker etc should be used. You are greeted with a smile welcoming you there!
I love fishing off this pier. I almost always catch something (ok maybe a crab, lol). Also, I am a woman and have never had any of the men treat me as if I should not be there, quite the opposite.
Standing of that pier for sunrise can be breath taking.
