This palace provides a nice piece of History of the Holkars in Indore. This place can easily be covered without the assistance of any guides and pretty fast as well. The most striking is the work on the ceilings.

A part of history, Lalbagh palace takes you back in time. Also interesting to note how lavishly some rooms were decorated while others were basic. The grounds around the palace was quite wonderful

Super colonial architecture. Well maintained. In the heart of the city. Good gardens around it. There is also nullah behind this palace and people say this was the escape route in times of emergency.

Now though its not an ancient palace, but being well maintained it definitely is place to visit. The pomp and grandeur of the royal's is in full display. A word of caution, check before you go there as may stay closed on a public holiday.
