I chose to visit this museum, because of constant publicity - not because I had any interest in salt, or salt production. But it turned out to be a truly nice experience. The serenity of this place, coupled with a "different" museum, as we know...More

Great tour while in Trapani. Both the scenery and the history is wonderful. Lovely views. Opportunity to purchase a slice of the local when you purchase a bag. Of Sicilian salt.

We visited this museum towards the end of September just as the "harvesting" of salt gets under way. The museum is small, perfect for a 1-hour visit or thereabouts, and contains some of the original machinery and plenty of explanatory photographic material. The present owners,...More

Simply a place you must see if you are in Trapani. Rent a bike or a scooter to go there, you will see some other interesting places on the way.

Read about this in a guidebook, but wasn't sure what to expect. Actually a very interesting 90 minutes - saw flamingoes, saw men actually gathering salt from the field. We bought 2kg of salt at the end - a sure sign that we liked what...More

A must see process how they harvest salt from the Ocean! The use of windmills was a surprise. A nice restaurant at the site as well as souvenirs and Marsala wine!

What an interesting little place. I was not very excited about looking around a salt mill but I was engrossed. Nice souvenirs on sale and quality hand crafted good. Well worth a visit and very reasonably priced excellent Sunday afternoon excursion.

Worth every penny of the 3 euros! Go and learn about harvesting salt and you'll appreciate what you put on your food even more.

The interior of the museum tells the story of sae salt production and includes the machinery which has been employed. On the roof one gets a fine view of the salt pans and the windmill. We would have liked to have been able to buy...More

Salt production is year round, harvest normally august, we we're there in april and it was lovely, saw some activity, salt, the stay in all for 1 night is enough if you don't plan to ride a bike for a day

no, I don't think public transport is coming there. Taxi"s are not that common in Sicily, rent a car. It is the best way to visit Sicily
