We had an excellent tour guide who patiently explained the history of the lighthouse. Best part of the tour was the opportunity to see the phenomenal views from the top of this beautiful lighthouse !

We planned to stop here but given my GPS not doing so well with French Canadian addresses, I was not sure that we would be able to find it. I was very pleased to see the signage right along the road, the location is very well marked. The lighthouse is very well kept and each of the buildings has been... More

We "stumbled" upon Pointe a la Renomme lighthouse by chance. Being a big fan of lighthouses we saw the sign on the road and immediately turned off and up the gravel road. As it was off season and a late Sunday afternoon we had it all to ourselves. Of course we couldn't go in an visit the facilities but the... More

For us, the hike made the visit. Visiting in November, the lighthouse facilities were closed, and the road had a few inches of snow, so we drove in a ways and hiked the rest. The road is not maintained, so beware. After the hike in to this very remote setting, we were pleased to see how well this lighthouse is... More

Well worth going off the main road (Rt 138) to see this out of the way site that was also used for telegraphic purposes. Tours offered. Great views of the mighty St. Lawrence River.

Excellent tours inside the lighthouse and buildings given by a delightful, very informative young man. Take the short or the long tour re Marconi sea to land communications for reasonable fees. Also excellent is the gift shop with handmade clothing and stained glass souvenirs (we got one of the lighthouse, its nice!). We took stunning photos of the St. Lawrence... More

While the views are exceptional, the long dirt road to it may be a bit daunting for the casual visitor. The buildings were closed, and the people in the gift shop were not fluent in English.
