From the original phone call to book our site, to booking in, local sights and a visit to the souvenir shop you need more than a day. Over 2 full days, we visited Wave Rock, Hippo's Yawn, The Humps, Mulka's Cave, Lake Magic, and the "DeadSea" - a Salt Pond. A photographer's dream and a sightseeing must. Wildlife in nature... More

wow.. this is one big rock. It is very impressive and the range of colors is pretty awesome. We loved that you could walk right up to it and follow the path around

This is definitely not worth a full day trip from Perth. However, if you are driving back from Esperance, Hyden is the place to stop for the night and visit Wave Rock in the morning. You really only need an hour at most but it is worth a visit.

The rock itself is quite spectacular but it takes a significant amount of time to travel to Hyden from most major locations.

We were road tripping Perth to Qld so decided to stop at Hyden overnight and view wave rock. My husband (a scientist) had heard of this as a boy so had some interest. Turned out it was interesting enough to see. Good colours and rock layers. Interesting geologically not amazingly fascinating but interesting. Some good info on the tourist info... More

You really have to make the decision to see Wave Rock as it is out of the way and miles from anything else. Having said that, it is quite amazing to think that the water and weather has made this. It wasn't as big as I had imagined as the pictures of it use the angle to make it look... More

My 10 year old did a class geology research on wave rock so we thought we must come and see the real thing! It was worth the long trip as there was enough to do for young family with three kids 7-10 years. Drove up from Albany 4 hours but stopped at Ponrongurop National park to see the Castle Rock... The kids had a lot of fun 'surfing the rock' on our walk around Wave Rock. Make sure you take the time to climb the stairs to the top for a view over the surrounding farmlands. Afterwards a swim in the pool is a must as it's hot work! Yes, it's 'out bush' but definitely worth ticking off on the... More

it is an amazing shaped rock but in my opinion it's not worth driving 4 hours one way (there is almost nothing else around, short walk on Wave Rock and Mulka Cave 20km from there). Definitely worth checking if it's on your way somewhere.
