They had the course set up for a "Super Senior" tournament. Pin positions were very difficult, with all the "Donald Ross" touches, extreme contours on the greens, lots of false fronts and grainy Bermuda greens. Very challenging. We played from about 5900 yards, which was...More

Shorter than Pine Needles and a little tighter. Great variety of hole designs. You need to bring a good short game here, because these Ross greens will kill your score if you don't. Good test from the Ross tees! Oddly, I shot the same score...More

A demanding classic golf course. This Donald Ross masterpiece is a must play. Greens are small so just aim for the middle of the green. Lunch is excellent in a great setting.

Played Mid-Pines and was blown away by the beautiful yet frustrating course. Greens are in fabulous shape. Course is challenging for all levels of players. We played both Mid Pines and Pine Needles and definitely preferred Mid South.

Had been looking forward to playing this highly acclaimed course. Very nice old world clubhouse and inn. Lots of memorabilia to look at. Golf course was nice but not as good as we had expected. Conditions were ok, greens fast and hard to read. Had...More

While this course has a long history, it has not been well cared for. It needs maintenance on fairways, teeboxes, and paths. The dirt paths were filled with ruts and not always near tee boxes, i.e. no turnarounds. Signage was poor. Best were the greens...More

I expected so much more - on a Saturday in June one thinks it could be slow but this is ridiculous. The greens were slow, almost as slow as the golfers. A few of the staff were nice but even the clubhouse was old -...More

As a couple with handicaps in the 16 & 28 range, this is a very difficult course. The false fronts, a Donald Ross trademark, are a challenge to play. Any shot hitting the green will likely rocket off into the many sandtraps or at least...More

We stayed across the street at Pineneedles. Had a room in one of the villas close to the Clubhouse. King size bed and about a $100 per night. Well worth it.
