North Carolina has a wonderful policy of making most of their state historical sights free of any admission, this is true with the Maritime Museum and many other attractions in the Cape Fear Area. It's a wonderful way to start your visit to this historic city!

Be sure to bring your visiting family and friends, young and old for short walk through local history. Make a donation to keep this a viable local gem as there is no admission fee. Be sure to look through the periscope for an incredible view of the mouth of the Cape Fear River and Bald Head Island.

Nice museum with varied and interesting exhibits; children enjoyed periscope as did the adults; great option for a day when you need an indoor activity.

Really enjoyed the museum and learning more about the town's history and all that the waters surrounding it offered. Displays were nice to look at, and the periscope was fun to look around.

Very nice museum (free) with exhibits from the 1600s to current day. Good for all ages. Exhibits include pirate boats, Civil War blockade runners to German U Boats.

this is a nifty little museum, filled with artifacts, and interesting exhibits. Some of the displays are interactive, and appealing to all ages. I liked that it made history seem more alive even to young visitors. Don't miss looking through the periscope! Free too!

It is an nice small maritime museum. There are guides to explain some the items and tell stories about the ships that have been grounded off the shores.

This museum is a gem - the exhibits are attractive and easy to follow, tracing the region's maritime history from prehistoric times to the present.
