I would classify the NCTM as more of a "living museum" than a classical static exhibit destination. Here, visitors get to see wonderfully preserved examples of historic transport including automobiles, airplanes, a couple boats and of course trains. What's more is that visitors also get...More

This place has an excellent exhibits and histories of railroading in and around North Carolina. It has a number of interactive exhibits. However, the 25 minute train ride had no narration so you did know what was alongside the tracks. The non-railroad exhibits were lacking...More

We spent over two hours here thoroughly enjoying the historical displays of steam trains. There are lots of opportunities for hands-on activities, including a huge sandbox for the very young. I recommend taking the 20 minute train ride, especially if members of your family have...More

While planning a trip to the Charlotte area, we started looking for things to entertain a 4-year-old and a 37-year old. We found the N.C. Aviation Museum, housing the airliner famously landed in the Hudson. This is not that story. My wife found the NC...More

I took my son to the "Easter Bunny Express" here and he absolutely loved it. The entire place was well maintained and the staff were attentive. My 96 year old grandfather also accompanied us and the museum had ample parking for him to get close....More

My daughter and I went to see one of the few attractions in Spencer while visiting family. It's a large spot with lots of trains, cars, planes and trolley cars. It needs better signage but was fun to wander around on a nice day. They...More

The staff was nice enough and this would be something to see for train enthusiasts interested in history, but this was not something I would recommend for small children (who are the only ones really interested in the Easter Bunny, right?). We were advised to...More

The admission price depends on whether or not one wants to do the train ride. If I remember correctly, admission without the train ride is 6 dollars and admission with the train ride is 12 dollars. I expect there are... More
