The Maples Course is a traditional southern course framed by twisted ancient oaks and tall Carolina pines. The medium-length, accuracy-demanding course features five holes that wind along the scenic Calabash Creek, with elaborate landscaping, and undulating greens. Still regarded as one of Maples finest, this is a beautiful par 72 course, with A1/A4 blended Bent grass greens. The course is also peppered with numerous waste bunkers, one of which extends the full length of a fairway. The course measures 6,797 yards from the blue tees; 6,330 yards from the white tees; 6,035 yards from the gold tees; and 5,110 yards from the red tees.

If I was Dan Maples, I would remove my name from this signature course. A great layout has turned into a sorry excuse for a golf course. Every aspect of this course needs improvement - greens, traps, fairways, tees, rough and clubhouse.

What was once a gem of a Dan Maples' design has been allowed to turn into a "farmer's course". You know the kind where a farmer puts some flags out in his field and hits the ball around. The greens have little or no grass the cart paths are a chiropractor's dream and the tee boxes are an embarrassment. It... More

This course has obviously seen better days. The greens were in decent shape which is important, but the rest of the course needs attention. Many of the tee boxes had little to no grass (2 of the par 3s are being resodded) and need to be repaired. Fairways were thin in some places and muddy in others. Cart paths are... More

Thin areas in several fairways, they had recently cored them and grass wasn't full. We had to play one club rule to keep from hitting off lightly grassed areas. At least 2 temporary tee boxes, where everyone played from. Should have resodded one at a time rather than all at once. Green speed was inconsistent all were slow. Some very.... More

Sea Trail courses were top shelf twenty years ago, but had fallen on hard times, and went thru bankruptcy a few years back. From what I can see they have made upgrades, but have a long way to go to bring back the old glory days. Not one of Dan Maples best designs, but I have yet to play a... More

The course condition was not the best. Several holes were very soggy and the greens putted well, but did not have the greatest appearance. What use to be the signature hole (a par 5 with a 300+ yard waste area/trap) had severe erosion in one end of the trap. The wet winter has not been the best to the course,... More

First time visiting this area. Stayed at Sea Trail played this course, considering the weather they have had the past 2 months, I would rate the condition at very good, I am sure with favorable weather conditions it plays excellent. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

A fun course that is interesting and challenging for a weekend golfer like me, without being too frustrating. It never seems to be backed up, so you can move along at a good pace. We played on a Saturday and there was no cart service, but with water on the course, and food at the clubhouse, that wasn't really a... More

A good Dan Maples course where he used the terrain and built a great course. It is not as difficult as the Jones course but very enjoyable. There is some very challenging water holes and is well trapped. "GO PLAY"

I just returned from a "guys" week (16 of us). This was the 2nd of 3 days of golf at this property. The course layout was great, unfortunately the condition of this and the other 2 courses is so bad that it over shadows what can clearly be seen as a once great golf property. The greens might have been... More
