Hammocks Beach State Park is an enjoyable location with features that can accommodate various recreational plans. From boating to picnics, this park is ready to host your family's trip. My family enjoyed walking the trails and spending some time reading on one of the piers. This park is a great introduction to the slow-paced charm of Swansboro, NC.

Take the ferry to bear island or if you have a boat, boat over and beach Great undeveloped island that is usually not crowded Good shelling If you camp get a spot on the beach not one of the paddle up sites......the paddle up sites have too many bugs

We recently moved to NC and are exploring our surrounding towns and chose Swansboro for the day. Took a $5/person 15 min ferry ride over to Bear Island that was relaxing. Then we had a quarter mile partly shaded, flat walk to the beach. Absolutely beautiful, clean and not crowded. The sand was so soft! There are bathrooms with indoor... More

Hammocks Beach State park is a nice place to visit and their cruise trips are fun and informative and well worth a $10 donation. They have kayaks for rent too. Their museum is a bit small but nicely done. It would be nice if they had some nature trails for walks and maybe a fishing pier. The pirate fest they... More

We have overnight camped here several times. It's primitive but fun. You take a ferry ride over and have to walk over to the beach so pack light. Shelling is great.

We stumbled upon this beautiful park and were amazed by the beauty! Beautiful wide beach we walked for hours, so peaceful and quiet, we visited off season though.

I went to use the kayak ramp and the place is just right out of a magazine. Visit if you are in the area, you won't be disappointed! Great walking areas too!

Not really much to do but you can enjoy swimming, fishing, hiking or walking the truly gorgeous beach! People of all ages can have a... More
