This is so beautiful to visit . Seeing the fresco of Jesus on the Cross was very moving . I came by twice on a very cold snowy day. The second time I came by the door was standing wide open. I had to stop and close it . I felt led to stop. The church was empty . My... More

What a pleasant surprise. Tiny church (est. capacity: 50) is home to a Ben Long fresco. One of two churches in the West Jefferson area with his work. Worth the trip.

My wife and I have visited churches all over the world with paintings and stained glass windows, but the frescos by Ben Long were awe inspiring. The narrative about the church and paintings was insightful and inspiring. The church was very unassuming and simplistic, which made the frescoes even more outstanding. We have seen many frescoes in Europe but these... More

We stopped by on Friday April 7th and were standing inside the front door in amazement when one of the actual members of the church stopped and gave us an awesome background on the paintings and the church history. She was the sweetest lady and so warm and welcoming. The painting and windows are just amazing but that lady made... More

You will be overwhelmed by the beautiful frescoes that are in this little church. You will also want to visit Holy Trinity Church in the same area. Both are small churches that were the only ones that allowed Ben Long to reveal his mastery of the art of doing frescoes. I won't put any pictures of them on my review... More

I had heard about the "church of the frescoes" and had wanted to visit it for quite some time. I was afforded that opportunity on a recent trip to West Jefferson, NC. The church is small and has been around for quite some time. The interior of the church was made of Chestnut and was absolutely beautiful. The main attraction... More

Two attractions here...the small wooden church itself and the unique frescoes inside. These are the real things...European style and beautifully rendered Christian images. Free to enter but a few coins are appreciated.

Such a tiny church but wow what a beautiful place! There are beautiful frescoes and several other paintings there with write ups about their artists. It is amazing that this is kept unlocked for visitors.

Make this a stop while visiting. Very pretty and peaceful experience and also enjoyed learning about the frescoes.
