This is the end of the road that travels along the southern coast of Vancouver Island. It ends in two beaches; Botanical and Botany. Both are great for tide pools, go during low tide. The walks are not difficult about .7 of a km each....More

We found it interesting to wander and peer into the pools. Two recommendations -- we said it would have been cool to be there with a geologist, to better understand the stuff we were looking at. In Port Renfrew there is a new service this...More

First off, I definitely recommend coming here at low tide, the ocean was about 2 meters lower than at high tide and the amount of tide pools was staggering. The beach is about a 20-30 minute mostly downhill walk from the parking lot and is...More

A wonderful way to spend a day with family and friends or just exploring on your own. Low or high tide there is a lot to see. Nice loop trail (not suitable for strollers) to Botany Bay. Take a picnic and enjoy the beach.

Botanical Beach was highlight of our trip. It’s a 1.5 hour drive from Sooke but so worth it. Make sure you go when the tide is low. First beach is about 25 minute walk from parking lot. I found the trail easy to walk but...More

My family and I (2 kids ages 9 & 7) spent a morning here searching for ocean life in the tide pools. "Just like the aquarium, except out in nature!" Sea sponges, star fishes, clams, hermit crabs and small fish are all visible. Check the...More

I've been twice recently up to Port Renfrew and Botanical Beach. The drive from Victoria to Port Renfrew is about 2 hours and 100km. The road becomes very twisty and narrow after Sooke, with uneven pavement and 4 single lane bridges you must navigate with...More

Botanical Beach is about 2 hrs driving from Victoria... Lots of nice stops on the way out Botanical Beach has a good size parking lot but can get busy... The walk down to the beach takes about 15 mins... Not wheelchair accessible! Once at the...More

The pathway from the trailhead to Botany Bay is okay, but the narrower trail to Botanical Beach suffers from neglect. The contracted company which looks after this trail fails to realize that the trail in used in all kinds of weather, day and night. Furthermore,...More

The road from Sooke to Port Renfrew is paved all the way, and in good shape. The road from Port Renfrew out to Botanical Beach is also paved and easy. The trail from the parking area down to the beach is easy -- mainly wide... More

From the parking lot, if you take, it is 20 minutes or less to get down to the water. The walk down to the tide pools is slightly more difficult, but neither path is difficult. If you are taking this route, I found it useful... More

You can drive to Botanical Beach from Port Renfrew in about 15 minutes. They have a good parking lot (its a round about) and at least two major access ways down to the beach, one long, one short. The shorter route is the... More
