Great views

We enjoyed visiting this lighthouse. It was misty and foggy but we still got great views of the water. The fog horn began during our visit.

I was the coordinator for a tour of 21 lighthouse enthusiasts from the US visiting lighthouses of New Brunswick, including Grand Manan Island. The folks at Swallowtail Lighthouse have done an extraordinary job of restoring and preserving this historic tower and station. Lovely grounds and scenic views. One of the best preserved historic lighthouses we saw on our tour. Oh... More

My favourite place on Grand Manan and one of the most beautiful lighthouse scenes you will find. It has been completely overhauled by a few of the local G.M. residents and they have done a fantastic job. The charge to go up to the top of the lighthouse was a bit lame but just being out by the lighthouse was... More

A very beautiful location. So nice to see it is being so well maintained. Walking paths to get there are great. Would be so nice if there was a washroom there for visitors. Not to be missed on Grand Manan.

This magnificent lighthouse is now open to get inside. It's huge. The lighthouse now has a new boardwalk around and to and from the keeper's house.

One of the first things you see approaching the north side of Grand Manan by ferry is the Swallowtail Lighthouse and you are immediately intrigued by it's presence on the tip of the island and the bridge walkway to get to the lighthouse. On our second day on the island, we drove to the access for the walking trip to... More

It is an interesing walk along the boardwalks. There are many boards explaining the history of life on the lighthouse through the years. We saw loads of butterflies and a shoal of herring in the bay. The peninsula has panoramic views of the Bay of Fundy.

Makes one think and wonder how mariners of long ago could navigate these waters without the use of modern technology. This lighthouse and many others were needed for their safety. A beautiful site.
