FINE SELECTION OF ITEMS
Sep 2019
This museum is on the second floor of the main building of the Ryan Premises. I always am amazed how such old items have survived the decades, if not centuries. There is a bit more of a maritime perspective to the display, not surprising being in Bonavista.

Best of the Ryan buildings (there are 5)

This one has the National Historic employee to tell you about the story and upstairs is a museum of things from that era.

Fabulous museum of the area
Jul 2019
This was one floor but the amount of items on display was impressive. Amazing old things, some I have seen before others I have only heard about.

Loved the variety in this little museum
Jun 2019 • Friends
It may not be very large, but this museum has a nice variety of things reflecting life from past generations. There was also a 'curator' present who gave us so much more specific information about Bonavista and the whole peninsula. Worth a stop.

A hidden gem of a museum
Jul 2018 • Solo
I stumbled upon this place taking photos of the boats in the harbour. I ended up viewing the exhibits backwards. There are some beautiful models, lots of informative infographics that are good for all ages. What impressed me most was the setting, being the original premises of Ryan's fishing company - it helped me to imaging what it may have been like for the original sailors. They weren't charging the day I visited, I think they had a problem issuing tickets, but I think it is worth supporting the investment that has gone in to preserving the buildings and curating the exhibits.

Local History Well Done
Aug 2017 • Couples
A very enthusiastic lady in charge. Worth 30 minutes to see displays of local history of wartime, events, fishing and commerce related to the fishery.

Really enjoyed exploring all the exhibits. The museum has a great selection of items used by the local people. Some I recognized from my grandparents' house.

This museum is on the top floor of the Ryan Premises fish plant so it's easily accessed & is a nice attempt by local people to keep their history alive
