Starting at the top, the website was easy to navigate, the information clear and the booking process simple.

We arrived in Bonavista early so went for a walk around. The boat left promptly, so make sure you arrive early, you can look in the shop and walk through to a pre departure seating area. Onboard there is a head/washroom and indoor area.

The boat itself is a smaller vessel so you feel the waves... but you're out in the Atlantic so its to be expected.

The first mate acted as the guide and was both informative and funny. Given us some tall tales of local "lore"

We saw a many sea birds of different species. Unfortunately our visit was at the end of the normal whale watching period so it was 50/50, the early tour got to see some but we did not.

After the tour we brought a couple of items in the shop to take back to the UK.

It was good value for money and maybe next time we will get lucky with Whales.

Excellent whale and puffin tour; Skipper and Barry made this experience a personal best!

Saw 3-different types of whales, puffins, other birds and sea creatures as well.

Learned a lot about sea life, local culture, history, and really enjoyed the crew and appreciated the expertise!

Cold day but wonderful adventure. Saw Puffins but were too early for whale it seems. Enjoyed the Boil up after the tour. Would book again.

It was a very chilly morning but nevertheless the boat tour was excellent and great fun. The boat had an open fly bridge on top and an enclosed cabin depending on what customers wanted. We were very happy to be able to stay warm in the cabin given the frigid temperatures. We had no idea what we might see but the shout of “WHALE” immediately changed that expectation. We spent the next few minutes circling and watching a number of humpback whales having their dinner. Captain Derm and first mate Barry were excellent hosts and made great conversation throughout the tour. We travelled a few more miles along the coast and guess what we saw: an ICEBERG!! We were very lucky as the iceberg was on its last legs but it was still spectacular to see one from a few feet away. To top off our great boat tour, my wife wanted to see if we could get live lobsters for our dinner. Thanks to Derm and his wife Linda who called a fishermen friend of theirs so we could buy some great Newfoundland lobsters at a very good friends price (Thanks Woody). All in all, we had a great time plus we got some delicious lobsters!!

We did see the humpback whales as well as a few
Puffins the iceberg had gone so a little disappointed about that the tour was excellent how ever it was pointed out that if we wanted to see a iceberg we could drive to open hall Tickle bay and see one from shore (a 70 minute drive each way) it was awesome 👏

We had a fantastic tour. The water was very choppy which is an experience we will never forget. The captain and skipper were very knowledge on the area and history of Newfoundland. Highly recommend!!

Absolutely fantastic!! The vessel was very quiet and comfortable, well equipped, and the crew - first mate Barry and Capt. Derm, were awesome. The vessel provides the option to stay in the warm, enclosed cabin on the main deck, or view from up top on the open flybridge. Even though it was cool, the flybridge was the place for us!!! Barry was up and down between decks constantly, making sure everyone was comfortable and seeing all the sights, and was a wealth of local knowledge. We saw a Humpback Whale and her calf, and stayed in their vicinity to watch them for quite some time - without disturbing them, of course. We also saw Minke whales, many Puffins, Murres (called Turrs locally), Gannets and Cormorants, Black Guillemot (Sea Pigeons), and seals, as well as an iceberg. The crew made sure everyone had a chance to get great photos of all the attractions. The tour was a great value for the price and we will definitely be back!!!

Was informed prior to our trip that there had not been any whales spotted on the morning tour so we didn't have to go out on the afternoon tour if we wished.
The scenery alone is worth the tour so out we went.
While out on tour we witnessed, one mink whale, a humpback whale, puffins at their rockery and feeding in the sea, blue fin tuna feeding and salt sheep.
So much for a lack of wildlife sightings.
Mother nature decides what you see and we where blessed that she put on a show for us.
The staff and crew at Bonavista Puffin and Whale Boat Tours were great with their knowledge of the area and local stories.

Do not go on this tour. They did not even look for whales most of the time. May be the time of year, may not be. We asked how it was the past few days, and answers were vague. Seriously a tourist rip-off. Aug 25th.

We are very sorry we try to always tell people that there are no whales out right before anyone takes the tour. Usually this time in the month the whales are leaving and you may not see them. We have been lucky in the past week with a few sightings but they could be here today and gone the next day it is very unexpected at this time in the month.
