My husband and I wanted to cod fish (and “kiss the cod”) and Lori and Jason couldn’t have been more friendly and accommodating while also showing us the sites from the water. Cross this one off of our bucket list. Highly recommend!

I highly recommend Seas the Day Boat Tour. We booked a 4 pm tour and got a call from them a couple hours before to give us a heads up that they hadn't seen any whales for a couple of days and gave us the option to cancel our booking if that's what we were hoping for. I certainly appreciated their honesty and offer but we didn't cancel and what a 2 hours it turned out to be. Whales, porpoises, numerous kinds of seabirds and we jigged a dandy cod fish! The owners kindly filleted and packaged the fish for us. Highlight of our trip to beautiful Bonavista.

What an enjoyable and exciting couple of hours out on the water jigging for cod!! My husband and I had another couple of friends with us. They were from Brazil and they want to go again next year. Guess what we had for supper that evening? You’re right! We had fresh fish caught that very day by us. (YUM) Our Captain Jason was so helpful - he gladly helped us land the fish. Lori joined us -laughing heartily with us as we excitedly knew we had a fish on our hook. She also took pictures for us. Thanks Jason and Lori for such a memorable experience!

Where do I start? Seas the Day and Capt. Larry was an experience the four of us will never forget. He could not do enough to make sure we had a great time. He was a capable Captain in rough seas and he made sure we saw Puffins and whales and we jigged cod and had a blast! He was so concerned to make sure we were getting everything out of our day; it was like he was our long lost cousin in Newfoundland that had been waiting years for us to visit! We ended up hanging out with Larry and his family at the local watering hole that evening and he so generously supplied us with lobster, crab legs, and preserves, much to our shock and delight. He wouldn't take a penny so we dropped a few brew off at his house before heading out of town. This experience was way beyond a three hour boat tour; we got to really understand the hospitality of Newfoundland through Larry and his family. I would go back there just to share a beer and a few laughs, but we'd probably be back out in the salt water chasing down whales again, because that was awesome, as you can see from the photos we took. Go to Bona Vista and look up Larry. Guaranteed satisfaction and hospitality!!!

Our trip with Seas the Day was late in the season, and we missed seeing the whales. However, Larry more than made up for it with our voyage around the area, and his consummate knowledge of jigging for cod. All those on board (who wanted to) hooked a cod, with photographs of the traditional "kissing a (real) cod", before releasing the fish back into its home. Larry is a bon vivant captain and genuine entertainment for all our time on the water. That being said, there was no room for compromise for safety and regulations - Thank you, Larry! The boat was a special design for maximum stability, and even with some large waves out there on our day, we were comfortable & secure for the whole trip.
