Lots of insects, some displays include live insects. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. We visited in late May before the bee hive was operable and the butterfly house fully occupied but the visit was still well worth the price of admission. There is also a very well stocked gift shop with items fairly priced. Would definitely visit again if in... More

A great little retreat into bugs and butterflies. If you want something to do in Deer Lake with the fam you won't be disappointed.butterflies pitching on your shoulder as you walk amongst them. Fun afternoon.

This was a very interesting stop. There are three floors, some of the displays contain live insects, including a bee hive. Very informative. On the way out, stop at the snack shop for some very good ice cream. The gift shop has some interesting souvenirs.

Great spot for the curious, especially if you like butterflies. They are amazing! Make sure you take the time to hold some of the other bugs like the giant millipede. The bee hive is must see as well. Great staff and facility. Been there twice now and will go again. One note - it's hot in the butterfly room.

Who knew that there's an insectarium in Newfoundland? I sure didn't. What a nice surprise to see that there's a butterfly exhibit and other live exhibits throughout the place. I had a bad experience in a butterfly conservatory in Ontario when butterflies were flying at my face -- this time, the weather was cooler, so the butterflies were not as... More

Loved this Insectarium! The butterfly exhibit was my favourite of course, with tons of exotic butterflies flying all over the place and even landing on you. The upstairs has great insect exhibits as well as display cases of live beetles, frogs, spiders, and more. Worth the visit if you;re in deer lake!

Great for all ages and for even those who don't really like insects! The building is a refurbished barn with a butterfly pavilion and a great gift shop!

We have been to a Butterfly Conservatory before, and knew what to expect, but this one has not left out one detail. The owners are very friendly and the staff are very helpful, knowledgeable and informative. Seeing the butterfly nursery was so interesting, and then all the beautiful butterflies. Not only did they land on our shirts (wear bright clothing)... More

We didn't have plans to spend time in deer lake but had a few hours to kill before our flight. This place was just the ticket. The building itself is beautiful and the displays are all top notch. I was expecting a bit of a tourist trap but this place was world class. You can spend some time in the... More
