after having just been to charming Patzcuaro. This town is much smaller and there really isn't a lot to see except the copper vendors stands.

I've grown up near a copper mine and these artisans take working with copper to a new level. Wonder, detailed complicated pieces abound. Don't miss a demo if possible...just go!!!!

The town is tiny and not as nice as Pátzcuaro, but the copper handcrafts are amazing. It is 20 minutes from Patzcuaro and it has at least a dozen stores with beautiful and very affordable copper products. Really worth the trip.

What an interesting place. We were lucky enough to tour where they make the copper sinks, bathtubs, pots etc. Incredible history. If your buying copper check the weight. The heavier the better quality. Well worth a visit.

We arrived on a Sunday. The zocola was packed with Mexican families and vendors selling everything from copper sinks to sombreros. We had a light lunch at a restaurant on the plaza and ended up buying two copper sinks for future projects. Worth a visit!

It is definitely a great place to visit for a few hours. Start with their museum, which will give you an idea of what they are doing, and then go to a couple of workshops to actually see the artists working. It is definitely worth...More

I can't answer the part about driving there, but Santa Clara del Cobre is a sleepy little village and very safe. It is very close to Patzcuaro and easy to get there by cab. Make sure that you get to see the demonstration... More
