We stayed in a 2 bedroom 2 bath condo on the ground floor literally 60 feet from the ocean. Located in the middle of the Half Moon Bay, close to 2 very nice restaurants " La Lunita and La Buena Vida" (both with .25 of mile). Many more restaurants with in 1 mile, along with many small stores (with beer,wine,booze,... More

We enjoyed sitting watching the snorkelers on the reef and the waves gently rolling in on this beautiful beach. We spent three nights at La Buena Vida restaurant on this bay and it was lovely.

We stayed 2 wks in a condo here and loved the uncrowded beaches, restaurants, and snorkelling. Water shoes are recommended but not necessary on calm days. Water is shallow and there is so much to see beneath the surface. Great variety of fish and interesting coral gardens. Close to all the action, but far enough away to feel like you've... More

We just got back from a 2 week vacation on Half Moon Bay. We had a large group and stayed in a house and condo. The house was just south of La Buena Vida, and pretty much at the end of the beach. We didn't have much of a beach at our house but it was only a hop skip... More

Half Moon Bay is a quiet, beautiful beach north of Akumal Beach. The bay is great for snorkeling - note that water shoes are necessary to protect feet from the coral/rocks. The water is shallow, the sand is white and fine, and the crowds are non-existent. This is a peaceful, quiet spot with very few people sharing the beach and... More

We seen a lot of corals plant life and fish. Be careful if the wind is blowing outward, you can get caught in some current. Nothing we were not able to swim out of. It is a bit shallow to enter I would recommend a rashgaurd shirt because of this.

Half Moon Bay is a lovely area to relax and read books on the beach. The surf was rough and it is rocky when you enter the water so you need water shoes if your feet are tender. We did not attempt to snorkel here as the surf was rough and we did not want to get pushed onto rocks... More

Whether its leaving your resort and spending the day or finding a resort/room on the bay, this is a perfect area to enjoy in the heart of Akumal. Enjoy the tiny village, wonderful local restaurants, clean beach with prime snorkeling, the turtle info center or dive shop.. or shop the local artisans, this is always a taste of the Yucatan.
