Costa Maya is one of Mexico's most popular cruise ports and emerging travel destinations located just hours from Cancun on Mexico's southern Yucatan Peninsula. The modern port is able to accommodate three ships at once, with the capability to dock Oasis and Epic sized ships, and entertain visitors at a destination that showcases the ancient and colonial heritage of the Mexican Caribbean with all of today's modern conveniences. Costa Maya is comprised of three grand pavilions, artisan and luxury shopping areas, a beach club, saltwater pools, fine restaurants and bars, and all the resources necessary to explore the surrounding jungle and the world's second largest coral reefs.

The port was very clean and had lots of things to do within the port. Some of the shop owners were a bit pushy with purchases, and I just personally do not like to be hounded about buying things(why I went down a star) - but that is also to be expected when in such a heavy tourist area. Bathrooms... More

The port is small but has a lot to offer. The people are friendly and don't harass you to buy things. Definitely bargain the them. They started with $55 for a purse, then $30, $18 and I finally got it for $10. I felt bad (a little), but maybe it was overpriced to begin with? anyway, got a great deal... More

I was impressed with the low-keyed approach of the hundreds of sales people. There is quite a bit of variety for shopping. Some nice little restaurants and bars. There are dolphins to play with, and a huge pool and play area. Overall, worth getting off the ship for.

Yes, so its a tourist driven cruise port. Cause, yeah, you wouldn't be there if you weren't a tourist. But, as cruise ports go, it's very clean and well done. Yes, a little like "Disney-fied" Mexico. Is that so bad? It gives an option for those not interested in authentic Mexico to get off the ship and walk around a... More

Tourism is the apparent driver of nearly everything at this port. The place has been re-built since hurricane Dean nearly wiped it off the map in 2007. The new & improved port area is a much more visitor friendly place that includes attractions for families, shops, and access to the regions historical sites. As long as there are cruise ships... We arrived here on a cruise and walked around the cruise port. There were amazing things to do, including dolphin swimming, restaurants, and all kinds of shopping. We would definitely go back here again.

This place is specifically a cruise port only. It is very clean but just a bunch of tourist shops and they know that they have a captive audience so they do not haggle over prices very much. There is some fun stuff for kids to do. A Dolphin swim place and a big swimming pool and a small beach.

The port at Costa Maya is very nice and also clean. One of our fellow cruise ship passengers was asked where he was from and he stated Illinois. He was asked to leave the shop because the store employee said Mexicans hate Americans. I won't let one person take away from the overall experience because everything else was excellent. I... More

We came in on a cruise ship early and left when still mostly dark out to take a Mayan Ruins excursion that started at 7:30 am. Stayed gone all day. When coming back to port to get back on cruise ship, could not believe how cool the port was! Wish we could have stayed in port longer!! Really cool pool... More
