Having never seen Mexican folk art, and almost missing out on this experience, it was only due to another Trip Advisor search that I spotted this hidden gem. Turn up at 10am any day to get a free tour (with small suggested donation to local charity)/. I went without kids, tour takes just over an hour (though they say its... More

Thank you for posting such a nice review of your experience visiting our home Casa de los Venados. We are just a private home, not a formal museum nor a business. However, we open our home every day for a tour at 10 AM each day to raise money for local Valladolid charities. More

If you love Mexican art, especially folk art, this is a museum not to be missed. The owners lovingly restored a building in central Valladolid where they reside and share their 3000 piece collection with visitors. The home is beautiful, with polished local limestone, wood cabinetry, a stunning pool and open courtyards. And then there is the art! Many pieces... More

This is a beautiful collection of Mexican folk art. I'll go again because you cannot take it all in in one trip. Its beautifully displayed, the people, who, own the house are kind and welcoming and th guide is knowledgeable. It's inspired to me to begin collecting some folk art pieces of my own.

This is a private house with over 3000 pieces of Mexican folk art that the owners have collected in the past 34 years. Interesting note told by tour guide David is that the owners didn´t buy their art at mercados but in artists studios or they were commissioned. Lovely home with art pieces in every nook and cranny.

We could of spent hours in this amazing house! It's not a museum it's been opened by the US owners for people to view their incredible private 3000+ collection of Mexican folk art. Which is just incredible!! A must go! All donations go to charities within the area :)

My family toured the Casa de Los Venados with David on the weekend. My kids, aged 10, 13, and 15 don't always appreciate the more cultural elements of our trips abroad but this was an exception. After we left the casa, my thirteen-year-old exclaimed that it was the "best tour ever" - which is high praise from her. David was... More

We weren't sure what to expect before we went, but all four family members agreed it was a highlight in Valladolid. So much fun art to enjoy, and our tour guide (David) was very charming and entertaining. Cool that it is a home as opposed to a museum. Thank you to the owners for opening it up to the public!

A really interesting trip around the Mexican folk art scene. I left the house wanting to become a collector myself! Definitely do the tour if you find yourself in Valladolid
