We were staying a couple of nights in Valladolid. After walking around town today, we stopped for a rest in this park square, making use of the “conversation” chairs. Then, at 5:00pm, a Mayan dance troupe appeared for a 30 minute performance. Apparently this is a frequent thing, not advertised. So take a look. The dancers collected tips and offered to pose for photos (for a tip) at the end. Fun!

We stopped at the Valladolid main town square on our way back from visiting Chichen Itza.
Here you’ll see a church, a small park with water fountain and many sellers offering souvenirs and snacks. Don't miss seeing the conversation chairs for two(one of the attractions in the town square park). Try marquesitas and churos..they were yummy!
We only had 30mnts and was not sufficient. Just walking around the square, you can easily spend a couple hours. I am sure there are several other places you can explore nearby including the cenotes. I would plan for the entire day when visiting Valladolid next time.

Be sure to take your time visiting this busy-yet-quiet parque in the center of Valladolid. Treat yourself to a small coconut ice cream cone while relaxing on a bench or one of the interesting double chairs.

By the time our bus stopped at Plaza e Parque Principal Francisco Canton Rosado, Villadolid, our group was guessing how much $$ the tour guide and company get for stopping the tour bus there. This was the last stop back to the resort on the Viatar tour, and we were tired, and still had a long bus ride ahead of us. As others have shared, there was nothing special here, and very few businesses around the square were even catering to tourist. I wonder if the tour guide (and bus driver) like to stop there, so that their riders use a toilet other than the one on the bus. The tour guide told us early that morning, that ‘going number one was ok, but do not go number two ‘ on the bus toilet. So, I can report that the ‘public bathrooms’ on the Plaza e Parque Principal Francisco Canton Rosado, looked like they hadn’t been cleaned or flushed in days.

A relaxing place to sit with a coffee in the morning or enjoy the evening after dinner. A lovely view of the fountain and church. Lots of life and a few vendors at night. How could you not like this place?

Very busy in the evenings. Vendors selling food items. At dusk the birds are so loud flying into the trees you can hardly hear yourself!! Don't walk under the trees if you can help it! Nice view of the church.

Good place to rest after walking around the town. Ice cream vendors, a boy selling balloons, and a "Mayan Rain dancer" complete with the most extravagant plumage.....in his headdress!!

This is a beautiful plaza. I love the park benches that completely circle around the water feature. What a lovely touch. This is a pleasant place to sit for a bit and take it all in.

I must admit I grew up watching soap-operas and this plaza was the place closest to what I’ve seen in all the telenovelas I so much liked as a teenager.
