The scale, grandeur and beauty of Stowe has inspired writers, philosophers, artists, politicians and members of the public from the 18th century to the present day. Since the National Trust acquired the gardens in the late 1980s, an ambitious programme of restoration has ensured that over 40 temples and monuments remain, gracing an inspiring backdrop of lakes and valleys with an endless variety of walks and trails, a delightful visit, any time of year.

The road to the estate is impressive enough, the best part of a mile straight, from just outside Buckingham to the Main Gate. When you get inside, the scale of the property is awe-inspiring. So large, that the walk to the actual ground from the...More

Stowe is a beautiful place to visit. The gardens, monuments and walks keep you occupied for hours. The facilities are very good and the staff very friendly. The views are stunning. Plenty of opportunities to try out your photography skills.

Haven't been here for years and it has changed. Brilliant café with really friendly staff. We went on my wife's birthday today and we were able to buy a whole cake from the café at a very reasonable price. The veg curry was delicious.

We are National Trust members and probably visit a site at least twice a month. This has to be one of the easiest properties in which to walk the grounds - the paths are very good and it's generally quite level, with just a couple...More
