A lovely venue for a relaxing afternoon in the sunshine. I was a little disappointed with the House, although the Kitchen in the Cellar set in the 1940's period was very interesting. The House gave the impression that many of the contents were sold on and what has been acquired by the trust is an on-going work in process. The... More

Dear Rechinout, Thank you for your review - really pleased you enjoyed the garden, pianist and the croquet, which we had just put out that weekend. All of the contents of the house were sold in a two day sale in September, 1948, so the majority of what you do see in the rooms is not original and was acquired... More

We visited on a very wet day so we weren't able to enjoy the gardens as much as we would have liked but they were lovely in spite of the rain. The barn also housed a lovely tea room with friendly staff who went out of their way to make us a cream tea. The house isn't the biggest but... More

Enjoyed a visit to Peckover House, a small but interesting house that tells a story on the house. Gardens are lovely and the Barn Restaurant serves lovely NT food.

Visited in March with only limited tours of the house - which we missed. Gardens were lovely though - spring bulbs + primroses/primulas were spectacular. The gardeners here have done a super job. Large NT cafe onsite which was excellent too! Went round in a few circles having parked in the public carpark and follwed the NT signs and literally... More

Thank you for your review Jinny232 I'm glad you enjoyed the gardens and cafe at the property. We changed our opening for 2017 to offer house tours only at the start of the season, when we are quiet and this was noted in the NT Handbook and on our website. The signs around the town are an ongoing issue for... More

As with all National Trust venues, superbly presented. Round off your visit to the historic rooms by enjoying the beautiful gardens and a meal in the the restaurant. A jewel in the genteel part of the town.

We went to Peckover House on Sunday 30th April, the day was lovely sunny and warm. The house was very easy to find. It's not a vast house but it is very interesting to read about the Peckover family, they were all Mormons and very trusted. There are some lovely paintings done by the family from old postcards from their... More

This Georgian house and garden also contains a restaurant and second hand bookshop in the Reed barn. There were free tours of the gardens and house. The restaurant provides a good range of snacks and good. We bought tea coffee and cakes, the Victoria sponge was very nice but the Rhubarb cheesecake was disappointing. NT properties receive money per member... More

The gardens surrounding this National Trust property are really lovely. They are well cared for and a real credit to the gardeners. The interior of the house is also fascinating and tells the story of the Peckover family and their rise to prominence in the world of banking. The staff were all friendly and helpful, especially the ladies in the... More

We did have a little problem finding this house, although it has a car park nearby some one had moved the signs around in the wrong direction. It was worth looking for, it is a lovely house in great gardens which are well care for. The barn restaurant is also good, very tasty food.
